| My baby is has her first period help!! Hi, Sasha started her first period today and I have so many questions: how long does it last? Anything special I should do? How can I make this easier for her? For those who have gone through the experience please advice. Thank you. She looks tired, looks miserable sometimes like if she had cramps. Other times she is like herself playing and kissing her mami lol.

| Get a diaper on her and use a mini pad.. she is having her first heat.. generally puppies are spayed prior to this.. If you do not plan to breed her then I suggest you do not let her near any male dog.. very important as she is too young to get prego... This last from start to finish generally three weeks.. There is nothing you can do to make her comfortable.. it is a huge change in their bodies when they go into heat.. especially the first when they are so young... If you have a male.. then you need to never let them be in the same room.. not even with what we humans think we can watch them... and a diaper does not keep them apart... Hope this helps... anne |

| I don't have a boy and she does not get out. I don't plan to breed and mistakenly, my boyfriend kept telling me to wait until she gets her first period to spay her. I should have asked the vet because I don't plan to breed. Again my boyfriend wants her to have babies but in this one I already took my decision to spay. My boyfriend think is that easy (the whole process of breeding). I put the pamper on but a minipad? I need to get those. Thank u

| she is doing better, but the bleeding hasn't stopped. When I take the pamper off so she can poop, she inmediately starts licking her private part and, then she wants to kiss. yuck. lol I can't waint until this is over. a silly question: is it ok to shower her while she has her period?

| We just got over heat....it was about a week coming w/just a little brown discharge, then about a week or so, bleeding, and then a week or so of peeing on every bush, tree, shrub, light pole, blade of grass, etc. etc. etc... I think she was leaving her calling card ...I'm fortunate to have laminate floors, so it wasn't much of an issue...I did have to wash and bleach all of her pillow slips (she has pillows all around the couch and chair and ottoman, so she won't hurt her legs jumping up and down)...I carried pepper spray, when we went for walks, but fortunately, didn't run into any loose dogs...Our neighborhood is really good about not having dogs on the loose...I was going to let her have two heats, before spay, but the way she acted on our walks, I don't know now ...Man, she was obsessed w/wizzin' on everything, and walking was not on her mind...And to add injury to insult, she was not lady-like about it, either lol....She started hikin' her leg, so she could hit her mark... |

| Duck tape will not stop a determined male. Just get your girl spayed. |

After her bleeding dwindles is when she is very attractive to the opposite sex.

| Then she is definitely in tha phase because she is bleeding less. I saw a very beautiful male Yorkie yesterday and my boyfriend was like "make them have babies". I certainly don't want to breed. I don't know anyting about it and because of my ignorance on the subject I don't want to out my girl in danger.

| How did you become so educated? Did you have a mentor? Or did you do research? I have been researching (learning new things with every book I pick up) but finding a mentor who lives close is proving to be hard. |

| We used newborn diapers and cut a small hole for her tail and then a diaper cover it seemed to work well for her. Mini pads are like panty liners I believe.

Yorkie Talker | Any other behaviors, like more panting than usual, she managed to bleed on the carpet, it was very hard to take out, used everything in my arsenal, but still some stains. Pad on her until I take her outside ! |
