| Year old Yorkie with bad teeth Hi all, Darcy is now almost 18 months old, she has bad breath and the vet has pointed out that her teeth need attention, as she has a plaque build up. I give her dental chews regularly but they don't seem to help with keeping the plaque away. Her teeth look terrible for such a young dog, and her gums are a little red too. My other 7 year old yorkie has always had great teeth, and we have never a problem. I have bought some doggy toothpaste, which so far she doesn't even like, and I have a finger brush, I am going to start tonight with the brushing. Has she inherited bad teeth from one of her parents maybe?? Is it common at such a young age???

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Pixie had to have a dental last simmer at the age of 2 1/2 because her teeth and gums were so bad, not to mention her breath. She had to go on antibiotics prior to her dental and they had to pull 5 or 7 teeth ?. I have been brushing her teeth regularly now but they are starting to get a little discolored and re gums. I think it is genetics and some are worse than others.

| AMD's braided bully sticks (westbrookdog.com) have done an amazing job cleaning up Ryder's mouth. He chewed on them for hours every night for the three weeks he was on kennel rest when hurt his back and within that time period his teeth cleaned up beautifully. I highly recommend them!!
