| Shots problem help! I took in my dog 2 weeks ago and he is 10 months old... I have Been asking the original owner to get the shot record so I can update his shots but she kept telling me she gotta look for it and then I asked her for the vet number so I can call myself end she told me she had to look fot that too... I'm slowly to feel that She have never givren him shots... I'm planning to take him to the vet this weekend... My question is will they be able to start him over with the shots? And what if he already got it like the lady said.... will double dose of the vaccines be harmful to him? Or What should I do? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | What I would probably do is either titers -or- get him a DHPP now, get Rabies 3 or more weeks later. Then in 1 year, get boosters - then he should be set for a very long time (depending on your state's rabies law).

If you really want to know if he's already had the shots, then you could do titers. Otherwise, you don't really have much of a choice. Yes, overvaccination can be harmful...but so can undervaccination...

| He's over 7 months so Corona is totally unnecessary.....Leptos, I wouldn't recommend unless live in an area where it is prevelant. I don't recommend Lyme vaccine unless that is a problem in your area too. I'd contact your vet to see what his charge is for titers....Some vets will insist on revaccinating anyway.
