| Some shampoo types weaken topical flea treatments. I just read this and thought I should share since it's the flea time of year. I use medicated shampoo for dry skin and didn't know it was making the flea treatment less effective. Can I Wash my Dog If He's on Frontline or K9 Advantix? | Ruff Ideas by Happytails

| My vet told me about this....a lot of shampoos contain a detergent that washes away the flea prevention. She told me to look for Sodium Lorate/Laurate(dont know spelling) and/or any Sodium Lauryths(spelling)-Laurate being one of them clearly....that is the detergent...if you avoid that you should be fine! PS: just checked and it's Sodium Lauryl and Laureth

I'm trying WallnutHills- YorkieSplash. She makes it herself. I just washed Ella and so far so good! I live in Florida and our water is soo hard and it dries out the skin. Also try using doggie conditioners. BioGroom has a GREAT one and it is compatible with flea prevents. Don't forget ... regardless do not wash your furbutt for three days after flea prev application. I got a bunch of samples this week. I'll let you know how they work. Look for my post. | |
