| Help! My yorkie is being stubborn and not eating! Our teacup Yorkie is a little over a year old and the past couple of months he has got to where he wont eat for a couple of days so I will go by a different kind of dog food and he will eat that for a few weeks than it's the same pattern all over again. What is wrong with him. What do I do??? Please Help! |

your little yorkie is training you so well. LOL How small exactly is your pup? teacup can really mean so many sizes. people ask me if morgan is a teacup and she almost weighs 5lbs. Has your pup ever had a problem with hypglycemia? Personally if your yorkie is doing great otherwise and is just being stubborn with the food i would offer him what you want to feed him and leave it at that. Do you free feed or schedule feed? My yorkie free feeds. Sometimes she doesn't eat for a day. Other times she'll eat all her food in one sitting. she self regulates and only eats when she is hungry. However if she had a pickiness problem i would not indulge it. Being different foods all the time is a pain in the butt if they don't finish the old bag before you need to buy a new one because they don't feel like eating. What i would do is offer the food in the morning for breakfast. leave it down for 15 minutes. If after that time the dog doesn't eat the food i would pick it up and that's that. Then at dinner you can offer it again. leave for 15 minutes then pick up. eventually your dog will realize you aren't playing their game anymore and if they are hungry they will eat. that is just my opinion tho

| He is about 3 1/2 lbs and no he has never been sick with anything. We free feed him and that used to work great! LOL Like I said it has just been here recently he has decided to be stinker...and yes it is very much a pain when you have 3 bags of dog food 3/4 full. But thank you so much for your advice I am defiantly going to try it. |

| I have one that is a picky eater. Right now she is eating great. I mix a few mashed unsalted canned green beans into her kibble and add a little water. She actually comes running. I've tried cooked chicken, rice, cheese, fruit, but it was green beans that did it. Go figure. ~Joanne~

| well my yogi is the same way he does not like the healthy food he likes the bad foods. lol i use to change his food every month or he wouldn't eat. you do need to find one and just stay with that one when he doesnt eat dont mind it. i just left him alone until the food was eaten he will eat when he knows he is not getting what he wants. they are little brats when it comes to it lol NO SUCH THING AS A TEACUP ANYTHING. Yorkies come in ONE SIZE ONLY. A so called "teacup" is just a POORLY bred runt with TONS of health problems. this talks about teacup yorkies and what they really are Yorkshire Terrier Club of America (Awards) and the standard on yorkies American Kennel Club - Yorkshire Terrier |
