| Heat Cycle Concern Our yorkie - just one year - just completed her first heat cycle. Her nipples are quite swollen and quite pronounced. She is not pregnant as we watched her nearly every second. I am a newbie with this breed but raised dalmatians for nearly 18 years. She is just a love and I am so pleased we have her. Any information is appreciated. Thank you. |

| My girl was at her first heat right before her 1st birthday and her nipple were very pronounced and it looked like she had a 8-pack! I was told it could be a false pregnancy even though she hadn't tied with a male. I was also told it is quite normal and that the nipples may not return to how they were before her heat. They went down some but are still a little more "puffy" than before her heat. Hope this helps! Also with a false pregnancy I was told the nipples will sometimes have a clear liquid discharge.

| Thank you for your reply - I am hoping there is no need for concern. |

| I would not think there would be any need for concern unless she was showing signs of pain. The more I read up on false pregnancies and how nipples are after a first heat the less worried I became. False pregnancies aren't anything to worry about. I have a thread you can read when I was in your shoes http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...ffy-teats.html Hope this helps as well
