| Can Someone Sum up the Nutro recall a few years ago to me? I think this happened before we got Uni. After we got her we met some people in an outdoor mall (Uni was with us) that told us their daughter's yorkie died from the food. Can someone link up an article to exactly what it was that happened? Was it kibble only, all of their foods, what? I am asking b/c I have some canned left over from before when I mixed her kibble about more than a year ago (but haven't used it again yet). new cans' Exp date is sept 2011. Ingredients are: Chicken broth, chicken, turkey, beef, cod, beef liver, rice bran, ground rice, lamb, guar gum, brewers dried yeast, salt, potassium chloride, carrageenan, sodium ascorbate, ferrous sulfate, chlorine chloride (what's this?), vitamin e supplement, zinc oxide, copper sulfate, vitamin a supplement, thiamine mononitrate, sodium selenite, vitamin b12, vitamin b3 supplement, potassium iodide, biotin, riboflavin supplement. Should I just throw in the trash and run away?

| A bunch of Nutro's products were recalled due to the melamine contamination, the FDA lists all the products (although I believe a lot of them were voluntarily recalled before the test results were back.) They show that the products involved were all cans/pouches. All of the cans in question had best buy dates of 2-14-10 at the latest so your cans are safe. There was a newer recall since then, but it involved the Nutro Max line for cats. Recalled Nutro Ultra Products Recalled Nutro Max Products Recalled Nutro Natural Choice Products Your can should be safe! Just as an FYI, you can search the FDA's recall database through here. |

| It isn't the fact that Nutro was recalled with a ton of other brands that is the problem. If you Google "Consumer Affairs Nutro", there are way too many complaints about dogs getting sick and some dying while eating this food and it has not been recalled.
