| Could food change cause loose stools??? Bella and Bear were on puppy chow from breeder, I kept them on it one week. Now week two (yesterday) I started 1/4 california natural to 3/4 puppy chow and my boy has very loose stools almost runny, even in their crate. I don't know what to do. SHould I try another food? |

I agree. California Natural is such a better quality food than Puppy Chow. It may take their tummies awhile to adjust because the quality between the 2 foods is so different. | |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I switched all of mine a couple of years ago to California Natural and I did it very slowly. Only Cali had a few episodes of loose stools as she has a sensitive tummy. After a few days she was fine. Maybe ask the vet if you can give anything to help during the transition and just give a tiny amount of the new food for a few days and slowly increase the amount. If that doesn't help then maybe try another food although CN is pretty easy on their digestive system. Keep us posted please.

| Thanks, yes I ended up bringing a stool sample to the vet because their first appointment isn't until Monday. They were negative for parasites. I ended up giving them rice and chicken (which they absolutely love!!) Their stools are starting to form so tonight, I am going to try gradually adding the puppy chow back in with only a couple pieces of cali natural. It is so hard to know with little babies!!! |

| Patty, do you think I should skip the puppy chow all together and just gradually add in cali natural. They were on Puppy chow from the breeder and I have had them ten days. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | glad to hear they don't have parasites. Since you are already giving them a bland diet and you want to switch them to kibble, i'd just start giving them the california natural instead of the puppy chow.

| OK so is it ok for them to be on the rice and chix while I transition them. The way they eat it they will probably be on this mixture for awhile. Can you recommend bland treats...I have pulled back on everything b/c of their precious little tummies. Maybe a small piece of chicken, what about chherios? I've read others give them for treats. |
