| Cook VS Buy on Price So I know the economy has hit a lot of us. I refuse to cut quality with my dog food and was wondering for those that cook for your babies, do you notice you're spending more to do so or are you saving money by cooking? Thanks for any advice!

| For us, we are spending a lot more to homecook. Although some that do it find it to be equal to or cheaper than kibble, I have to go with the canine nutritionist who says it can cost up to 4-6 times more. If a six pound bag of food quality food lasts about a month and runs about $15, that is $180 a year. We spend probably somewhere between $35 and $45 a month or $420 - $540 a year. The protein source is expensive and using something like chicken could decrease the costs. However, if you want organic, free range or all white meat, you are paying quite a bit again. This is for one six pound Yorkie with a big appetite. Oh and I didn't even figure in the cost of her nutritionist and recipe formulations.
