| Are micro chips big enough to feel? I was just petting Toby on my lap when I suddenly found what I at first thought was a tick. I was wondering how he got a tick on him when I realized it was under his skin and kinda felt like it was floating around. Although I guess I'd be surprised by that too cause I thought micro chips were too small to feel. |

| We felt Gracie's right on the back of her neck. Tiny-like a grain of sand!! The breeder scanned it as well to show us that IS where it is located. |

| There are certain ways that I can pet Harley where I can feel his chip also. Every time I feel it there is always a brief moment of what in the world is that. Harley's feels like a grain of rice to me too. My vet told me that the needle they use to implant the chip is pretty large and that is why with the little ones alot of people opt to have the chipping done at the same time as a spay or neuter. | I too, can feel Maddies chip...... I was wondering if anyones yorkies scratch the area where the chip is located? I have noticed Maddie has been scratching that area a lot these days. So i thought it was fleas.... i gave her a bath put on flea meds and she still is itching that area.... i checked her skin and found nothing. The only thing that is there is the chip... it could be allergies cuz its getting warmer here, but.... just wondering if microchips sometimes make them itchy? |

| Oh that's a good question. Now that you mention it, Toby also itches that area but I assumed it was cause of his harness. Maybe the entry spot for his microchip is still healing. |

| Ralphies has actually slipped down to the middle of his back. It really freaked me out the first time I felt it. Then it dawned on me that it must be his micro-chip. I had the vet scan it and that is what it is. It kind of worries me that if it ever needs to be scanned they will just scan the back of his neck and figure he doesn't have one

When I first felt Thor's chip, I was shocked at how apt the grain of rice comparison is. That is EXACTLY how it feels.

| The tip of the tail, WOW, that is crazy! It was actually a vet tech that told me most vets would not check past the back of the neck. I think she was just inefficient though . It would seem pretty weird to not check further, especially since I am sure they are well aware that some of them slip.

| It is best to have your vet scan (the entire body) yearly to determine where the chip is. They do have a tendency to migrate, &/or sometimes form hard tissue around the area. I know where Mimi & Momo's chip is & will just check to make sure it hasn't moved.

| Some of the microchip companies insure that their chips will not migrate and will give you a new one for free if the chip moves-- do you know what brand chip they used? I'm know HomeAgain offers replacement chips if theirs move...

| I'm thinking about getting Lola microchipped since she is CKC registered and I was wondering if the only way a dog can be found with a microchip is if they're scanned or if there is anywhere that does global positioning to keep track of them? Thanks in advance!!
