YT 2000 Club Member | When to spay? Jasmine will be 6 months old on the 24th of this month. She is now 2 1/2 pounds. My question is when should I have her spayed. Our poodle Prissy was 6 months when she was spayed but she was 5 pounds. I am worried about this. Your advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | While it's scarey anytime...I realize there's more worry when they are smaller...I know some people wait to see if they're grow more. Sometimes the wait was pointless cause puppy was done growing...so they were spayed still weighing 2 - 2.5 pounds. I'd get a full blood panel completed beforehand.

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | Tia was 4lb at her spay at 6 months old Although it is worrying they spay cats at a young age and surely some of them are around her weight. Saying that it is worrying for any furbaby mummy. It just doesn't seem fair that about 3 months after we have them we need to make this decision does it.It prevents many cancers , so I was told , so It is for the best. Just my opinion lol

| spaying, I am nervous. Hi, I have a eight month Yorkie, named Lily. I am nervous about spaying her. She isn't around other dogs, so I'm not worried about her getting pregnant. I am concerned about the surgery, and putting her through this. How much of a heat could a 3.5lb. Yorkie have? Does this surgery really prevent cancer? I would rather not put her through this. Does it change her as far as her personality? |

| I had both my girls spayed a fortnight ago Leah is 6lb - 2 years old, and Ellie is 4lb - 1 year old. They are both fine now, I was really worried and Ellie did have cystitis after the op but its all sorted now and they are back to their normal naughty ways lol.... |

| I think that's a perfect age and she's a good weight, not too tiny.

| Before you decide I recommend you read this article: http://www.naiaonline.org/pdfs/LongT...uterInDogs.pdf Personally I feel if she were mine, I would wait until she is over a year old. |
