I will look it up when I get home - it's bookmarked on my computer. Anyway, they don't stock every single variety of food, but I got Taste of the Wild and Wellness Super5 Puppy, and they had a bunch of other premium kibbles that'd I'd consider feeding Meg.

I've ordered from them twice now and I'm very happy with them. They ship fast and are very helpful. I think they are a fairly small mom and pop type of store. Sometimes teh prices are a couple dollars more than I've found other places on teh internet, but they ship to APO addresses and that's what counts.
HaHa any bit of help counts! I really appreciate it! She is SO not interested in the SD that I laid down for her this morning.

All her blood tests came back today normal so I don't know why I would change anything. I went home at lunch to check on her like usual and she had tossed the SD wet/dry mix around but hadn't so much as ate one bite. Thats when I laid down about 2 tbsp of her Royal Canin. I don't know what to do. She is still shaking like she is cold but the vet did blood work, felt around her belly and bladder and intestines and all that good stuff. And he said she was fine. It's not cold in my home. I hate it when its cold and I have been super good at making sure she is always warm enough. I am at my wits end. She is still in good spirits and rushed over to greet me and wagged her tail when I came home for lunch . I am just concerned with this shaking thing.

The shaking is a common first sign of hypoglycemia, and if she hasn't been eating enough, I'd be VERY worried about this. Meg almost died from hypo and had to spend two nights at the vet with an IV glucose drip in her neck. It was an absolute nightmare and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Feed your pup plain chicken, cottage cheese, cheese, scrambled egg, etc... anything you can get him to eat if she absolutely will not eat the kibble. Just get food in her. ALso, I've had good luck with grinding Meg's kibble in a food processor and mixing in some water and very finely shredded chicken. I think the kibble pieces are too big for her.

Feeding cat food is a bad idea. I can't believe the vet recommended that. Why did you go to a Japanese vet? Were you not able to get an appt with teh base vet? I have ONLY taken my dog to teh base vet here in Korea, and I will only visit a Korean vet if it's absolutely necessary. THat's just me though.

I thought the whole cat food thing was absurb too. The only reason I took her off base is because she was shaking. I have a post on here about what happened this morning. I can't find karo or nutrical so I fed her some maple syrup this morning. and she ate all her food with vegetable oil and chicken and rice dinner baby food mixed in. I was worried she was in pain and that was the reason she was shaking ( she's had very hard bowel movements this past week ). She's been eating , she just wont touch the SD. Last night I gave her some carrots, fresh green beans and some banana chunks. She ate a little of everything. I also gave her some cheese last night after her bath. Thank you again for all of your help. It's nice to know someone over my way

I had a hard time finding NutriCal, too, and I ended up having to order it online (from that same company in CA!). Then the vet at Osan ended up carrying it. If you want I can pick some up for you and MPS it to you. I'm going to the vet tomorrow anyway. Just let me know. I think it's like $8 or maybe $10.

Karo syrup is usually in the baking section of the commissary, next to all the sugar and whatnot. Of course maple syrup or honey will do the trick, too.

I'm glad to hear she's at least eating. What's her name? How old is she? I'm going to try to find your other post.

And yes, it's good to have another YTer in Asia!!!!

Perhaps others will disagree with me, but I would absolutely NEVER feed Bil-Jac to my dog. It is full of controversial fillers, corn, beet pulp, uses by-products, low quality grains, and uses a chemical preservative believed to be carcinogenic.

Check out Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble for reviews of dog foods. Bil Jac is rated at 1 star (out of 6). I feed Meg a 5 star and 6 star food mixed together (Wellness Super5 Puppy and Taste of the Wild Prairie).

Congrats on your new puppy! I'm sure you'll find a food that is right for her. And you're 100% right about slowly introducing teh new food over a period of 2 weeks.

You two are making me home sick! LOL We spent 7 years at Yokota and we miss it so much...well, except for the Japanese vet during off hours and the shipping thing that is!

Marley's Mom (what's your real name?!), here is the website for the company. They actually have a LOT of premium dog foods, certainly much more than I remembered them having. Who knows what your babe will end up liking, but at least you will have a place to order it!

West Coast Pet Supply

I have some extra Wellness Super5 Puppy, Taste of the Wild Prairie, and Honest Kitchen Embark if Marley wants to sample them before you start buying bags.

Oh, and just a thought on the NutriCal: I had my vet put a prescription sticker on it so it's ready to fly with us. The tube is bigger than 4 oz, of course.

Haha - that's funny since I am homesick for good ole' America. Granted we were stationed in Europe before Korea, so it's been a long time since we've been in the US for more than 2 weeks.

We're stationed in Germany and I know several people who special order dog food from our base vet. I don't know how much it costs though

We only have a couple of options here too and like you, the vet recommended SD but my Bella won't touch it.

I wouldn't recommend using dog food on the economy. When I brought Bella home for vacation in February and I took her through customs they didn't even LOOK at her. They just asked me if she had her rabies shot and where I bought her food. Since I said the commissary they passed me right through.

We had a hard bowel movements/constipated almost 4 week old puppy who was shaking, and then started drooling (I thought he was having a seizure)...our vet said best thing for them was not medicine but prune juice and it is VERY easy on their tummies and very inexpensive. If constipation is not the issue the prune juice will not hurt her. We give about 1/2 a teaspoon to our puppies when they have hard poop and it works wonders. You could probably give a bit more. I HIGHLY reccomend this now!
