| Rash/Allergies? Help! I come home one day to find Bentley on the back of the couch acting crazy and every muscle in his body was tight. I looked closer and saw red spots all over his body. I took him to the vet and they say it is allergies (external..nothing that he has eaten but it is from something he has touched) so they gave him a steroid and sent him home. I wake up the next morning to find it worse so we went BACK to the vet where they gave him another steroid and told me to give him benedryl every few hours. He is staying at my parents for now because we thought he may be allergic to something in the apartment. It has been 5 days and the spots are NOT getting any better. I would think that if it was allergies it would have improved by now....right? I have attached a picture of what it looks like. Help! What can this be? |

| Interesting. None of mine have ever gotten a rash. With everything fresh in bloom maybe it was something outside...I don't know..

| Did you figure out the cause of the rash? Did you figure out how to cure it? Remy has a few red spots on the inside of his one leg that I can not explain. It is not the extent shown in your pic, but it seems to be increasing over the last couple days. I put some aloe vera (straight from the plant) on it for the last two nights that seems to decrease the redness but it still seems to be spreading a bit. Thought I'd see what ended up with your situation to gain some possible insight! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | To me, that looks like it might be Pyoderma, which my Wylie just had! He was given Simplicef for a month. Do you know if this appeared suddenly or over time?

| We took him to a different vet to get a second opinion and THEY gave him an antibiotic to treat a virus. It has been a couple of days and the spots seem to be looking better and hes acting like his normal self. So I guess it was a virus instead of allergies. We are still watching him and Ill keep you all updated. Things ARE looking better though...thank goodness!!! |
