				 | My dog has never eaten dry food without me spicing it up with people food; cottage cheese, turkey, chicken, ground beef, tuna, whatever I have around. We have tried Innova, Wellness, Canidae, Blue Buffalo, Royal Canin, and Pennacle. This weekend I got a few sample bags of Taste of the Wild dogfood and he has been eating it very well with nothing added to it. Hopefully he will continue to eat this because I'd prefer not to have to spice up his food to get him to eat it. Lately he has even refused all types of treats I have, only eating his bully sticks. If you can't get your puppy to eat dry food I would get him on a good quality raw food. He would surely like that.

				 | Well Teddy does not have a problem eating, he just forgets about his food! He will eat a little and then go hours without finishing. I literally have to go in there and shake his bowl for him to remind him that he has food and he finally goes in there and eats! Haha. |

				 | Toby has been picky and leaving his breakfast lately. I've been putting it in a baggy and taking it with us during the day.(He comes to work with me) I work with him as though it is a treat and have him sit and down and stay. he eats it all now, and he seems to have no trouble eating dinner, but if there is any left I work with him at night while we are watching TV. |

				 | I don't know, however, what I've always thought to be true in dogs, is "that is when they are hungry enough, they will eat" The more you try to get a dog to eat, the more picky the little one will become. Especially a yorkie. Because these are very clever little dogs. Soon they have YOU trained. IMO , though . Suzi, is a little more this way sometimes with her kibble, but, she eats when she wats to. I free feed her. Then I also give her canned foor, that is higher in protein. It is the same brand as her kibble, and is rated a 6 on the rating scale. She loves it too. I feed it to her once a day , and she does great on it. There is an organic type too.

				 | My Shih Tzu is a finicky eater. She tries to go on hunger strikes before she gives up and eats her dog food. I free feed her too, because eventually she will eat. My Yorkie will eat anything. He does not have a discriminating pallet. I wish I could easily find the Merrick dog food at local pet stores, because their food seems tasty for dogs. | I have noticed with my Laddy that if I give him any type of people food he will kind of go on a hunger strike with his kibble so we try not to ever let him have people food. Lately though I noticed even though he was eating plenty of kibble he seemed really skinny ( he had went through a growth spurt...getting a little longer and taller) I asked the vet and she said he has no health problems at all and just has to fill out his frame now as he is probably through growing so now am having to fix chicken to mix with his food and missing link. He loves it but I am hoping its not a lifelong thing now lol. ![Dpgprints C[1]](http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/images/smilies/dpgprints-c[1].gif) Charlene ![Dpgprints C[1]](http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/images/smilies/dpgprints-c[1].gif) Mama to Laddy & Lolita ![Dpgprints C[1]](http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/images/smilies/dpgprints-c[1].gif) |

				 | Mika is on Puppy Pedigree Complete and he doesnt really like it. I feed my other dogs Adult Pedigree Complete and Mika loves it. It says not to feed it to younger dogs but I give him a little bit. I am going to move him onto the Junior Complete and hope it tastes as good as the Adult. Fingers Crossed. Mika will eat anything though that us humans eat even tomatoes

				 | Over the last month or so I was experimenting with Remy's diet- trying to get him onto a dog food that he liked. I thought that it would be "better" for him to be on dog food, however at least with Remy that does not seem to be the case. Examples: Wellness gave him really runny stools, he would not eat any Merrick flavors (tried puppy plate and a few others) We finally met with success Before Grain Kibble - Buffalo. However I did not want this to be his only food (he would get bored). So, I vary between the kibble and home cooked along with a daily vitamin supplement. I've come up with a "menu" of foods that he likes and with a little planning it is very easy to home cook for him (and cheaper to). He likes a variety of proteins - chicken, beef, veal, lamb, pork, and fresh salmon. Ha - he had fresh salmon fillet last night with potatoes, broccoli and carrots! I vary things so he is not eating the same all the time. Veggies include broccoli, carrots, brussels sprouts, green beans. He gets yogurt and strawberries every morning. And he likes oatmeal. Lately I've been making a special meat loaf for him that combines ground beef, veal and lamb along with oatmeal, carrots and green beans. I bake it until it is just done (not dried out) and then break it down in freezer bags and reheat 1 portion at a time. Its moist, he loves it, and it combines protein, grain and veggie. Good luck with your little guy! I guess my only advice it to be open minded about it. I was convinced that I needed to get him on to all "dog food" which became obvious was only going to result in an ongoing battle. Finding one kibble that works, but not relying on it as his "only" food seems to be the right solution for us |
