I'm so frustrated!! So Tater and CoCo went to the Groomer on Thursday. I noticed that Tater was shaking his head a lot Thursday night. I thought it was odd, but attributed it to her plucking his ear hair. Yesterday, when I got home from work the shaking/scratching was continuing and he kept me up all last night. This morning it was awful and I thought maybe she got water in his ears. I called the vet just in case and got an appt. this afternoon. I was looking in his ears and rubbing them when he yelped if I touched his right ear (Tater has a floppy ear and a standing ear, it was his standing ear). The vet checked both ears and that one had a lot of moisture in it and his ear canal was very inflamed. A swab showed no bacteria or yeast so it was not quite an infection yet but all the right symptoms are present. So he got a pain/anti-inflammatory shot, in 2 days I have to begin a solution treatment followed by an ointment. The vet was shocked because Tater was just in 2 weeks ago for his annual and his ears were in perfect shape. He has never had a problem with his ears. My vet said the groomer should take more care when plucking and always use cotton in their ears to prevent water entering the canal.
I don't mind paying necessary vet bills, but I do mind dropping $200 because his groomer didn't take all the proper precautions to ensure he came home as healthy as he arrived. I have put up with a lot from the groomer, she essentially told me I was a bad mom because I baby Tater too much, she also said she thought CoCo was a little too inbred all prompted without me asking her opinion! I put up with it because I loved her work and she is supposedly a "Yorkie specialist" and came highly recommended. Now I search for a new groomer... Do you guys think I need to call her in regards to this?
Just needed to vent..... It breaks my heart to see him all doped up from the pain shot, only waking up to shake his head....
