| Peroxide to Induce Vomiting!? The other day my vet told me that if I needed to induce vomiting for Harley (IE if I were to see him swallow something potentially dangerous) I could give him a tablespoon of peroxide! And if he didn't throw up after that to give him another one! I mean my goodness! Is this outrageous? What do you guys think?? |

I've never heard of that. I would think Ipeac Syrup that you use for your kids would be better than peroxide. I'm not sure.

| I read on here where someone did that and it burnt the dogs stomach. I would be very afraid to try that.

| Peroxide??!!?? Isn't that poisonous? I'd be terrified of it. I once ate something while I still had a residue of bleach on my hands and was I ever sick!! The first day I had Susan I went and bought some syrup of Ipecac. It's cheap and the little bottle is easier to keep in the first aid kit than a big bleach bottle, that's for sure! |

| Peroxide is what you use. It doesn't hurt your dogs, they throw it up anyways. My Woody found my daughters chocolate candy bar. What was left looked freshly eaten. I called my Vet and that is exactly what he told me to do. It took 2 Tablespoons, first 1, then 15 mins later if he doesn't throw up then a second dose. It all came up, believe me. Woody was just fine after that. |

| peroxide is recommended to induce vomiting your other alternative is a vet visit and pumping the little kids stomach. For use if youre convinced your little one has consumed something toxic like weed killer, snail bait, a poison plant, unheathy foods etc. dont use it without knowing for sure as well knowing theyve consumed quantity!
