| emergency room visit i didn't put this on the emergency forum, as this happened a week ago...but i really need some advice kayden had been up for about 4 hours...ate and drank breakfast/water just fine. about 3 hours after her breakfast, i ate some instant oatmeal...and she snuck a bite while i jumped up to answer the phone...one bite only. well...about 10 minutes later, she was looking out the screen door and just started swaying back and forth. i called her name...she ran right to me. but when she got to me and stopped, she started swaying again. i took her right to the vet. she was very lethargic and didn't even care when we walked in and saw the other animals and people...uncommon! they did some lab work...said everything was normal. they gave her a dose of the activated charcoal just in case. *her blood pressure was low, though* they couldn't figure it out. said i should take her to the emergency hospital. i did. while we were waiting for her to get the iv's and stuff, they let me play with her. (about 45 minutes due to other emergencies) well...in this time she drank 3 dishes of water, peed 3 times, and pooped. and she got her food bowl out of her 'diaper bag' and gave it to me. she was hungry. she ate about 10 pieces of food. the vet came back in to get her...and she jumped up to his waist and played and barked. so they sent her home. she hasn't had any episodes of this since. bit i'm afraid she will. could it have been the instant oatmeal? any ideas? she eats wellness just for puppy...and fruits and veggies. she's 5 1/2 months old. thank you in advance. kelli |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hmmm, how old is she? Is there artificial sweetener in the oatmeal?

| she's 5 1/2 months old. it's the instant maple and brown sugar oatmeal. i'm sure there are some artificial sweetners, preservatives in there...but i'm at work right now and can't see what they are. thanks for the reply |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I'd suspect that. Some are potentially fatal in dogs.
