| Beneful Prepared Meals Currently, my Bella is on a mix of Science Diet Kibble and real chicken. Cooking the real chicken weekly is not only expensive, but time consuming. I would love to just open up something, scoop some out, and have her head it without begging her to or putting other things in to tempt her to eat. I was thinking of switching Bella over completely to Beneful Prepared Meals. It looks really good, and something she'd eat. I know she should keep kibble in her diet, and I know Beneful wasn't rated well on the food analysis website offered here, so i was thinknig of mixing it with Innova Kibble. I just don't know. She is so very picky and I can't keep maknig extra chicken each week just so she will eat. I know she enjoys it and I shouldn't change what works, but perhaps this will work too and it just seems easier. What do you think? I do want what is best for her. Thanks! |

| You asked..... I would not feed Beneful. This is the ingredients list from the Simmered Chicken Prepared Meal from Beneful: INGREDIENTS Water sufficient for processing, chicken, wheat gluten, liver, white rice, green beans, meat by-products, corn starch-modified, carrots, wild rice, artificial and natural flavors, calcium phosphate, salt, soy flour, potassium chloride, added color, tricalcium phosphate, zinc sulfate, choline chloride, Vitamin E supplement, ferrous sulfate, thiamine mononitrate, copper sulfate, manganese sulfate, Vitamin A supplement, niacin, calcium pantothenate, Vitamin B-12 supplement, riboflavin supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, potassium iodide, Vitamin D-3 supplement, folic acid, sodium selenite, biotin Let's talk about meat by-products.... do you realize what can be in that? If they just say meat by-products then it can be from any animal, including euthanized dogs and cats. How gross is that? Not to mention the risk of BSE type disease from eating one's own species. Ingredients are listed in order of most % of the product. Now look at Canidae (I'll use the canned so it will be a more direct comparison): CANIDAE All Natural Ingredients Chicken, Chicken Broth, Chicken Liver, Brown Rice, Barley, Egg, Sunflower Oil, Dicalcium Phosphate, Potassium Chloride, Guar Gum, Flax Seed Oil (Source of Omega 3), Choline Chloride, Salt, Rosemary Extract, Cranberries, Carrageenan, Lecithin, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Iron Amino Acid Chelate, Vitamin E Supplement, Manganese Amino Acid Chelate, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Vitamin A Supplement, Copper Amino Acid Chelate, D-Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Niacin, Riboflavin Supplement, Biotin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Folic Acid, Thiamine Mononitrate, Sodium Selenite. No by-products of any kind, and most especially no "meat" - byproducts! No corn. This is human grade food! My dogs were giving me the picky routine too. I tried lots of different high quality foods. Some were even better than the Canidae and they would not eat it, so I understand picky. But stick with it and keep trying the better quality foods until one makes a hit. It is worth it! Another nice little side benefit is that the better quality food makes for nice little compact poops.

| Ew beneful is a really really low quality food. The wet food looks really gross...I glanced at them at walmart once. I would never feed a lot of those ingredients. I can't imagine feeding "meat"...what kind of meat is it?? Science diet is way better than beneful and I personally wouldn't feed SD either. What about a premium canned food like wellness, merrick, natures variety, evangers, etc?

| I completely agree with FlDebra....and another thing I was told recently about Beneful is that it contains sugar..which is BAD for dog's teeth. Sounds like you want what's best for your baby....you can also do research online for Best dog kibble.....or PREMIUM foods to feed your dogs...and it will list the best...I personally feed only premium food to my girls. I personally would never use any type of food that you can get at Walmart or grocery stores...you will need to go to a FEED store....or a PET shop, and they should have free samples of premium foods to try out on your baby...and see which one she prefers..before you purchase it! Good luck...

| I don't think there is sugar in the beneful pre packaged meals. I buy it for my outside dogs. I give them TOTW hard food, then they get some goodies in with it. I give them 1/4 each of the prepared meals and they love it. It actually looks and smells good! |

| I don't think the Beneful Prepared Meals are bad if you're mixing it in with a good quality hard food. I give Jackson a bit of the Cesar wet food sometimes even though it's an awful quality dog food but he doesn't get a lot and it's always mixed in with his kibble.

Thor's Human Donating Member | One thing to consider is that yorkies don't eat much (as a rule anyway), so it's not much more expensive to feed them a highly rated food.

| Instead of mixing chicken with the kibble, why not mix a good quality canned food with the kibble?

| The Innova you're using is a fantastic kibble, adding the Beneful will give your pup's body mixed signals with all the by-products and fillers. I highly recommend getting some Innova canned and mixing it in instead of the Beneful. I just saw the Beneful commercial the other day and my sis-in-law asked why I don't feed it as the commericial makes it look enticing, I told her--it's full of junk. I understand you want your baby to eat, but believe me, she will!! And in the long run, she will be healthier, and everyone will be happy. Good luck....at least try the Innova canned
