Glad to see Ranger went through his surgery well and is doing great at home. His incision looks excellent and the x-rays look great too. nice tight little knees now!

Sorry that wasn't very clear. Ranger hardly EVER limped. After 30-40 minutes of play or a fast walk, he would hold up the left leg for maybe two steps, so quick if you blinked you would miss it. DH never even saw it because by the time I said "look!" he was back to running on it. However, after I scheduled the surgery I never once saw him pack his left leg. But over the weekend I saw him pick up his right leg here and there, but again, only for one or two steps. I *knew* he needed both done, even though you couldn't really manually move the right patella. When I put him on the floor at the surgeon's office he stood with it kind of up, and took two steps that looked normal to me, but the dr. saw the lameness.

Remember Tate's xrays the next time you go there, I want to see what the different grades look like on rads.

And yes, I hope to that Ranger keeps eating!! Let me know how she does on the raw, I hope she eats it!!

Thank you!!! He really doesn't want to walk on the grass at all, but when I put him on the carpet he walked several steps before I got nervous and picked him up. I feel like he really just needs to rest today.

Yay!! I am sooo happy the surgery went well for Little Ranger!! He is so adorable snuggling in that snuggle sack. We love you little Ranger and you are such a brave little boy!

how was Ranger's night?

just checking in on the boys this morning. Is little Ranger starting to wake up from his ordeal? It was 2 days before Hot Rod would give me kisses!

We had a bad night
 

Last night was pretty hard on all of us. Ranger started shaking last night before we went to bed, which I am assuming was from pain. I have his crate on my nightstand so I had the door open and he fell asleep with his head on my hand. I laid there for quite a while before I shut the door and went to sleep.

He started crying very softly at about 3AM, of course during a torrential downpoor and bless his heart he will NOT use a potty pad. So we waited for the rain to subside and I took him out. He would not use his back legs :( but I could tell he needed to potty since he hadn't gone since 7AM the previous morning. He finally went and we went back to bed.

I woke up to him shaking and when dh brought him breakfast in bed, he took quite a while to eat it (very uncharacteristic) but he did eat. I gave him his Clavamox and Torb at 8:30. He was very uncomfortable this morning. He actually cried when I picked him up out of his crate, which breaks my heart. He was shaking and shaking so I called the surgeon about 20 mins. ago. He was in an appt. but I am waiting for his call shortly.

I also called my vet who said that he shouldn't be *that* painful, but reminded me that bone surgery is incredibly invasive. He suggested I do the hot and cold, which the surgeon had thought I shouldn't need. We were leary about cold therapy because he's pretty small and their core temps can drop so quickly, and he was getting chilled very easily yesterday.

Anyway, I am pretty upset... I am hoping that today is the *worst* and that he'll start picking up tomorrow. Please keep him in your thoughts today, I don't want him to hurt anymore :(

That poor little darling!! I do hope he feels better shortly, there surely has to be alot of pain involved with this surgery. Hugs, Joan and prayers for little Ranger.

Poor little Ranger. I\'m so sorry he\'s hurting. I\'m sending him lots of get well hugs and kisses. You hang in there - hopefully this is the worst of it!

I\'m curious about what you meant by he wouldn\'t use his back legs. How did he go potty? Are you helping support him?
