AWwww! Little punki' butt! His leg looks GREAT, the stitch is clean, hardly any swelling/redness - nice job, vet! I'm so happy he's home and in your care. He really sounds like he did well and will do well, even though he's a little grumpy :p. I'm so glad he's on the mend. Hugs to you, darlin'. :) |
Glad to see all is well Amanda. Poor little guy. Wishing him a speedy recovery so he and Ryder can get back to doing what they do best, playing with each other and loving on Mommy. Hugs, |
His leg looks really good. I'm so glad to hear he's home settling in. Thanks for the update! I'll check back in later. {hugs} |
He's home, safe and sound! That last pic of his little face just melts my heart.... |
Thank you again so much. I agree, the legs look fantastic. There is no bruising, very little swelling and they didn't even shave *that* much hair! The surgeon is just phenomenal. His clinic is actually a national referral center for several orthopedic surgeries. The quicker the surgery is done, the better. Not only better for the dog under anesthesia, but better for the tissue as well. When the tissue is open for surgery, there is a decrease in blood flow to the area which subsequently does more damage. I think the fact he was in and out of surgery quickly, meant less damage and therefore faster healing time! The clinic just called to check on him. Thanks to Brooke, I was prepared for him not having a bowel movement for several days, which was something they wanted to make sure I was aware of. YT is an amazing resource, and I *honestly* don't think we could have done this without all of you!!!!! |
thats great amanda!!!he looks so good, its threads like these that make me remember why i love yt |
Awww, Ranger Danger!!! Big hugs to you sweet boy! Amanda, I am so so so happy to read that he is doing well! That is wonderful! Poor Ranger and Tate....their left legs were both the worst :( I just cannot believe that Tatum is already walking on hers (as of yesterday)...with it being as bad as it was and all....it just totally blows my mind!! :D Tate also got an Epidural in her little knees...I am so glad they did this! And about the pooping thing...Tate went exactly 3 days after surgery (it was during the night before bed on the third day). And she has gone every day since - although only ONCE a day, in the morning....except, she didn't go today. It's because she hasn't been eating much though (we are having some issues with that now - and with her drinking enough water) :( Give Mr. Ranger tons of gentle little hugs and kisses for me girl and thank you so much for the update and for the pics! I will of course continue to check on him but I am just so relieved to hear that he is doing well....way to go RANGER!!! :D :cheer: We love you guys! |
2 Attachment(s) Ok, just in case anyone is interested, here are Ranger's xrays :) I am a TOTAL xray junkie and try to look at an many radiographs as I can  I know, I know, something's totally wrong with me. I am forever asking dh to xray this and than on my horses :p The first pic is before surgery. You can see how unseated the left patella is (little circle above the joint- each one is too far to the inside of the leg) and the right is pretty bad as well, although palpations didn't indicate a problem. The funny thing is that he had been limping on his right leg since I scheduled surgery, and when we put him on the floor in front of the surgeon he was limping on the right, so I guess it just could have started being a problem? Anyway, we are just sitting around still. Ranger got up and repositioned himself in his crate, and has gone back to sleep. I hope he doesn't stop eating like Hot Rod and Tatum, that would be soooo uncharacteristic of him and I would really worry. He usually gets raw in the evenings and kibble in the AM, but I am going to keep him on raw throughout his recovery as it is his TOTAL favorite!!!!!!!!! |
That is so good that Ranger is walking on his leg already. I feel left out, Hot Rod is just starting to put his leg down for a couple of seconds only and with no pressure on the leg! But then his scar is on the side of his leg and Ranger's and Tatum's are in the front. I'll have to ask about that. Hmmm. I am so glad that he is on the mends! He looks so good in his picture. Sounds like his mommy is taking really good care of him. Hugs and kisses to little Ranger and Ryder from Hot Rod, Maggie May and mommy!:) |

I wonder if his incision is due to the fact he didn't get pins? I know both Tatum and Ranger had pins and wires, so maybe that has something to do with it? |

I kept reminding myself over and over again to get Tatum's x-rays and then once I went there to pick her up and I saw her, I totally forgot just because I was so focused on her I guess. I will try to remember when we go back on Monday to get them. Her x-rays looked SO terrible  Her little patella's (especially on that left knee) were TOTALLY out of socket and out of place. It broke my heart. But then of course the after surgery x-rays looked great :D  I just HOPE that those pins are still in place and aren't broken...I will just DIE if they are. Being that she is using both legs now though and without a limp, hopefully everything is as it should be :hands: I too hope that little Ranger doesn't stop eating...I'm sure that he will do just fine! :) I'm 99% sure that Tatum would never refuse boiled chicken, lol (she hasn't yet)...but she just absolutely will not TOUCH her kibble. In fact, ya know what, I just may have hubby go and pick her up a bag of NV Raw on his way home from work today. She loves raw and I did used to have her on it, but took her off of it completely when I started her on NB. If she would eat the raw though, which she PROBABLY will (I just can't see her refusing that  but I guess you never know with the Tator Bug...lol) then that will make me feel alot better. At least it's a great food and has everything in it that she needs. |

Give Hot Rod a little kiss for me....we are saying prayers that he will start using that leg SOON! P.S. - Didn't you say that you stopped his pain meds? Do you think that possibly his little leg could still be hurting him? Maybe that's why he isn't wanting to use it or put any pressure on it? Just a thought :) |
