| Hi All, I have a 15 wk old Yorkie, she weights about 2 pounds 3 oz at her last vet visit. This is my first Yorkie and I'm not sure how much she should be eating a day. I leave her kibble out all day. I will have to admit she likes to be hand fed, which I do, so that I know how much she has had to eat. It seems to me that she doesn't eat very much but I guess she does have a tiny tummy! She lost an oz at her last vet visit 3 wks ago but she feels like she has put on some weight since then. I'm always afraid she has not eaten enough. Does anyone have an amount that I should make sure she eats each day? I am feeding her Chicken Soup for Pet Lovers puppy kibble. Thanks |

| You could try soaking the kibble in a low sodium chix stock until soft. I did this for my little one and he loved it. Also, as for how much to eat; I leave mine Innova puppy kibble out all day. But feed them two "protein/carbohydate" meals a day. |

| YT 500 Club Member | Congrats on your new furbabe! It's hard to know how much they should be eating, especially when their tummies are so small. The important thing to remember is frequent feedings so her blood glucose level doesn't drop (leading to hypoglycemia). How much would you say she eats a day? 1/8 cup? 1/4 cup? 1/2 cup? When I brought my pup home, she wouldn't eat kibble so I had to switch over to wet food. I'd say 1/4 cup of wet food/day was a good amount for her to eat at that age, but there were days when she didn't eat that much (and worried her Mommy a LOT!).
