Coconut oil eliminates fleas-Natural Remedy I brought fleas into the house from outside and they got on my Yorkies. i had some coconut oil by my recliner and while looking through their fur, I saw several fleas scurrying about. Being too fast to catch, I dabbed some of the coconut oil on the area and the fleas are history. I read that the coconut oil breaks down the flea's exoskeleton and causes it to suffocate. It also stops them in their tracks where they can be picked off easily. What a relief to have the Yorkies soothed and happy again. |

here's the link: Welcome to Tropical Traditions I like the Gold Label Extra Virgin for a skin conditioner, cooking oil,and for flavoring desserts. They will try and eat the oil directly but too much will make their stools loose. What they lick off their fur doesn't bother them. |

thank you very much, I will give it a try for my son's alaskan malamute, he spends all day outside in the run and I am afraid of fleas on his VERY thick coat.he also goes to the dog park and for long runs with my son.. again thank you.. hugs, Carmen in nj:) |
I have used coconut oil for quite some time on my skin, cooking, baking, etc and started using it on Lulu right after she joined our family. Right after her bath I will massage a small amount into her coat and skin (too much and their coat will look oily)...she loves her massages. I also feed her a small amount a couple of times a week...in addition to the amount she licks off of me after my showers. :p Look up the benefits of coconut oil...you will be amazed. |
i always put coconut oil on my yorkies too. I just got my first show yorkie and the breeder swears by the coconut oil, when the dogs arent showing they are always little coconut grease balls. It is also great for my puppy it makes his hair not get tangeled. |

This is where we've order ours, and it is the type we've been buying. It's benefits are too numerous to mention - great stuff! |
Do you use just a bit like we would on our hair ( just the ends) or like you would when having an oil treatment ? Do their hair absorbs the oil, or do they stay oily until the next bath? I bet the smell wonderful |
We use it for many things - it's great for hair, skin, my dh is using it (along with other natural herbs, etc.) for arthritis pain in his knee, I give it to the yorkies for the many health benefits. |

I buy Garden of Life Organic Virgin Coconut Oil and Sissy gets this daily with her meals (instead of salmon oil). It was actually recommended by a vet and nutritionist to help with her digestive disorder and it is much lower in fat than salmon oil as well. She only gets about 1/4 tsp daily. No loose stools at all. |
That does it, i am going to have to order some ! :D Thanks |
That sound nice and I love coconot smell. Ok so you guys use it kind of like a leave in conditioner? I am going to stop by the natural store up the street and look for some today! |
Guess we all use diff kinds..LOL. I use the Nutiva brand. It is EV and I can get a huge container for around $20. |
Been hearing so much about Coconut oil lately, so interesting! Great tip for fleas. :) |
Thanks much. I have been looking for a more natural flea control method. I just ordered some of the coconut oil. How often should I apply the oil? |
Lady gets coconut oil in her homecooked meals rather than canola oil. It's recommended for dogs with sensitive digestive systems (Lady is prone to HGE). I've been hearing more and more about the health benefits, too. |
WOW!!! This is great!!! I'm going to try and order some today. Has anyone ever ordered any off of Ebay? DebraK & Haylie Mae <J>< |

I just went and bought some coconut oil today at our local health food store to try for fleas. I put some on him around lunch today and i haven't seen Tyke scratching like he has been........so keeping my fingers crossed that this works out. :) thanks for your tips. oh and the lady at the health food store wants me to call them and tell them if this works, so she can tell her customers that want something natural for fleas.....ha that's so funny. And that was the first time i went in there. it is a cool store. i'll have to go back. |

Coconut Oil Great tips. I'm always looking for a more "natural" way to keep the little critters (fleas) off my guys, especially Zeke w/his flea allergy. Does it work on ticks as well? Does coconut oil work the same as vitamin E on irritated skin and some of the same soothing/healing qualities as "E". Can pm or post. |
My mom always use coconut oil it does wonder on your skin, my twin came to visit and I ask her to bring me some I love that stuff:D |
