| Advantage for MVD dog? My yorkie has suspected mild MVD and I was just curious if Advantage was ok to use on her. Anyone else with an MVD dog and using flea control? |

To answer your question, though, Advantage is probably one of the safest flea control products out there. | |

| I think it should be looked at case by case. With mild MVD, Advantage should be fine. I wouldn't say it's optimal, but it isn't optimal for any dog. However, it's a lot better than an infestation.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali has a confirmed mild case of MVD and we have her on Revolution flea and heartworm prevention. My vet always takes in to consideration her liver issue before putting her on any medication, even though she has a very mild case. I don't know about Advantage but Cali has been fine on the Revolution.

| [QUOTE=Ladymom;2883072]What makes you suspect MVD? Was a bile acids test done? I know you mentioned in another post that she just had a vaccine reaction which can be a symptom of a shunt. QUOTE] Yes - the last BAT test done was this time last year with post results of 40. I have seen great improvement after switching her to RC Hepatic and denosly/hepato support so I haven't had her biles retested. She will throw up maybe once or twice a month now instead of every day. Her enzymes have always been in the normal range. I'm having those retested next week just to make for sure she's remained normal. I haven't been putting her on any flea/tick control since the summer has been over. However since she started itching really bad the vet recommended she go back on something and recommended frontline or advantage. Since I don't have a lot of faith in the vet she is currently going to - I wanted to ask here if anyone had their MVD dog on it. |

| Oh, before we knew Ellie had liver problems, she had a couple doses of Advantix and did fine. Then last winter she got fleas and I used Frontline Plus. Now I only use something if I see fleas (works well for us) and her vet likes Frontline, so I go with it. I wouldn't have a problem using plain Advantage though (but that is only if I see fleas).
