We recently noticed that when we gave our 4 year old rescue canned beef flavored food she itches more often and is licking her feet.

I know a lot of yorkies have allergies so what experiences can you share?

Should I take her to a holistic vet or her normal vet to get her checked for this?

if you can tell by just elminating the beef that she is allergic to it- just try and avoid it. Dogs also tend to be allergic to chicken so i would try and find an exotic meat kibble- like duck or fish or venison.

Layla is allergic to chicken- HIGHLY allergic, so we just avoid it

Itching and foot licking are both common signs of allergies. Can you switch to a chicken or fish based kibble? Grains can also cause similar problems. I switched Lola over to Innova Evo Chicken and have had no itching problems since.

yes i forgot- kibbles that include corn usually cause itching too!

Beef is a common allergen.
If your Yorkie feels better by just elimating it from the diet, there is really no reason to go any farther with testing but be careful about drugs that are flavored with beef and any food or treat that says things like "meat meal" instead of naming the meat because it likely includes beef.
