Oh I think I must make some of the sweet potato chews tomorrow. Lola is going to LOVE them!

Does cooking the sweet potatoe this way make them chewy and sticky? We bought a bag of dryhydrated sweet potatos and threw them out as when the girls were eating them, they actually got stuck to their teeth and choked.

Mimi & Momo loves sweet potatos! We bake ours in the oven or steam them, gotta try the chewy version!

Reading this thread makes me want to get a dehydrater.

Mimimomo, how do you steam them? How do they turn out steamed? How long will they keep? I want to make my own healthy treats for them too. Thanks!

Does anyone know how long these Sweet Potato Chews would keep in the refrigerator? My babies love sweet potato so I definitely need to make a big batch for them.

I used to freeze little baggies (a few days worth)

I don't think I've ever seen venison in any grocery store. Do you have to go to Whole Foods to buy it? Is venison good for extremely picky eaters? Last question...about the chicken jerky...when the fat is removed before cooking and no oil whatsoever is used, is it still considered high in fat?

We steam our s potatos in a huge pot w/water & one of these (picture attached) steamers...but our's doesn't have that handle. This ones from bed bath & beyond for $16 something, but I think you can find one for less, maybe Walmart? Just enough water to fill the bottom of the pot, & the legs of the steamer. Steam 2-3 large sp for about 20-30min & check if they're done by poking w/a chopstick or knife (if it's done, it'll slide in easily). I cut the sp in half, so it'll cook faster & I can see if it's done or not. We keep them in the fridge (a week) & it's a healthy & yummie snack for you & your furbabies! Can be reheated in the microwave or frozen. I only give Mimi & Momo a tiny bit (sugar cube size 2x's a day), too much of anything will give them too much 'u know whats'!

I think the s potato & venison AVERYxo was referring to was Natural Balance dog food...

Other companies have that too.

Question... After I cook the sweet potatoes should they be stored in the refrigerater or just in a ziplock on the counter. Thanks my babies love the sweet potato treats I bought but they are a bit expensive I can make a whole bunch of these for them.
