| Heat questions How often do females have a heat cycle? And is there anything I can/should do for her when she is in heat? She's my only dog, never goes outside unless she is leashed and with me, I'm more concerned with making her feel good. I know how I feel when I'm getting ready to start my period TIA! |

| My little one had her first heat in February and she was ok. A couple weeks before she went into heat she got a little bit nippy towards my male. Mostly she was tired and blah the first week or so. . .she really wasn't her complete self. I had them in seperate areas so no unwanted breeding took place and I just think she missed being with him. I would suggest that when she is in heat, have her use pee pads in the house instead of taking her outside. You don't want any unneutered males in the neighborhood trying to get at her. As far as how often they cycle, I believe it is every 6 months or so.

| As far as heat cycles, everyone is different. My little girl is tiny(a little over 2 lbs), and 9 mos. She hasn't gone in to heat yet, and I'm hoping she doesn't for quite a long time yet |
