| Merrick dog foods I noticed at the pet store that I shop at that they now have a full line of Merrick dog food, both dry and canned. I was impressed over the variety as well as the ingredients in the canned. I also was impressed with being able to serve the kibbles dry or with warm water that would then make a "gravy". I also liked the zip lock feature on the bag. Does anyone else feed their dogs Merrick? Do you feel that your dogs do well/thrive on Merrick? Do they like it? Do they have any bowel issues? Gasiness? Diarrhea/loose stools? Smelly stools? Or are all these things better on Merrick? I was wondering as Molly is currently being fed Wellness Puppy and am considering changing to Merrick. She eats it (Wellness Puppy) but doesn't seem all that thrilled with it. And, at times she is gassy. Her stools also are on the smelly side, but are a vast improvement over what they were from the food that the breeder had been feeding her: Diamond. I almost fell over the first time she had a BM. |

| I just recently tried the kibble and both mine liked a couple of the flavors but Hot Rod starting licking his paws so I gave that up. We had been doing Innova dry but they didn't seem thrilled about it.

| Mazee has been on Merricks for a while now. She doesn't have any problem with it and I love it. Mazee has never had any bowel issues, she isn't gassy with Merricks and doesnt' have stinky stools, which we love!

| My Zeke has been on Merricks now for about 6 months. He is 6 years old, and we have had a terrible time getting him to eat. He will like a food for about amonth and then refuse to ever eat it again. Well we tried Merricks, as a last resort and he loves it. I have never seen him enjoy his food. He will not eat the beef one, and he will eat (but not with gusto) the Grandma's pot pie. But he LOVES the Turduckin!. The only thing is I have to put a little Parmasian cheese on it. But I don't care, at least I don't have to stand on my head anymore to get the dog to eat lol. I have also noticed that he seems to have more energy, and active. I think he is getting arthritis, and there is a joint compound in the Merricks, and I believe it is making him feel better.

| Thanks everyone for your responses. I just noticed that in general Merrick is not mentioned. But, Wellness, Innova, NV, TOTW, etc. are frequently, so I thought I'd ask . I did decide to go ahead and buy a bag of it and see how she liked it. If Molly didn't, then I'd just go back to Wellness and stick with that. Last night she had it with the "gravy" and ate it all in one sitting with gusto that ended with what sounded like a disgusting sounding wet burp. But, she seemed quite full (1/2 cup) and contented. Today she had it dry and ate it just as well. And, has been quite busy racing all about with what I call the "crazies" as I do with my cats when they do this at 2am. lol So, if all continues as well as it does right now, then I'll stick with Merrick I know from the past, she loved their canned foods too. |

| We've had a LOT of stomach issues and tried a ton of different food. We were drawn to Merrick based on them touting it was for "sensitive" stomachs and that you can interchange the flavors without any tummy problems. My dogs are crazy about it, but i wouldnt suggest changing up the flavors TOO often, we did notice some soft stools but we are not sure if thats the cause or the nylabones that we've now taken from them. I've noticed that since we've given them so many different flavors, they seem to be annoyed if we serve the same one more than 2 meals in a row. They were also spoiled with the wet food so they dont love the dry food as much. But we are 100% happy that we found a food that we have not had any tummy issues with and that we are able to give them a variety of flavor. Be advised, one flavor has a full bone in it, but it is soft enough to eat (we havent tried it yet) and the lamb sausage one is really tough and you'll have to cut up the pieces smaller. Good luck!! |

| Penny absolutely LOVED the Merrick Turducken formula, but I recently changed her off the brand due to occasional loose stools and a couple instances of vomiting. It just wasn't working for her.

| What does it mean when they lick their paws in relation to eating?

| Tucker loves the Merrick foods. Especially the canned ones. I usually mix it with the dry. He dances like crazy when he sees that can. |

| Snickers was on Merricks Puppy Plate until he was 5 months old, then we wanted grain-free (due to some light itchies and flaky ears) and we tried Merricks BG (before grain) but Snick has diareeah from it and refused it so we tried 4327563487 foods and ended up with EVO which he eats with no fuss daily and is thriving.
