| Sentinel ? Hi there, I took Violet to a new vet last night. We were with Banfield before and thanks to the folks who posted stories and such here, have left there. Banfield had us using K9 Advantix & Heartguard. New vet is recommending we use Sentinel for the flea/tick & heartworm prevention. I wanted to post the question here, since you all know yorkies so well. Is Sentinel a good and safe product? Thanks in advance! Cheryl

| Sentinel is fine but Program (the part of Sentinel that controls fleas) is just a chitin inhibitor. It does not kill fleas but only makes it so they can't reproduce. So, this may not be adequate for some.

| from what my vet says and what i have read on here, sentinel and interceptor are the best heartworm preventatives for our little ones...my vet actually said once spring comes, he wants me to change my kids to sentinel from interceptor because of the flea factor sounds like a great new vet! i am also a convert from banfield (i have my own horror story from there)....i could not get away from banfield fast enough

| We use Sentinel for Tatum and Stormie (our Aust Shep) along with Comfortis. We give them Sentinel on the first of the month and Comfortis on the 15th. According to our vet, because of the horrible flea problem in our area plus the fact that most times these products don't work for the full 30 days, it's best to stagger with the other product. We discovered recently that Tatum has a flea allergy so if she gets bit by even one flea, her whole body breaks out and the itching is horrible. This routine we've been following has helped her greatly!

| I used sentinel for the last couple years(my sister uses it all the time), but, it got too expensive for me with 6 dogs(2 of them being outside and big). The vet was running a good sale last month on other kind of products, so bought a years supply of those instead. I can see which ones I like better, as last year the outside dogs never did have fleas on them, and we dont' have a problem with ticks |

| I usually buy all my meds online, usually save quite a lot, they just fax in to my vet. But, this time what the vet had on sale(got k-9 advantix for indoor ones and advantage multi for outside ones) I couldn't beat the price. The nice thing about the multi, is it is for everytying, including ear mites. My nephew uses that on his morkie. The only one I'm having a hard time with is my little one. I gave her sentinel(for her weight range) 2 times. The first time she acted really strange for awhile, and the last time she threw up all over afterwards. I don't know if it has to do with her being so tiny or what, but, I do need to ask the vet about it. She hardly ever goes outside, unless I'm right there standing next to her. The back yard is fenced in, but, I know there are a couple places she could escape. Maybe one of you with little yorkies, can tell me what you put on yours for fleas |

| Thank you all SO much for your great feedback on this. Really helps to know that it isn't known as a "bad" product, etc... You just never know, I tend to 2nd guess many things vets tell me and make sure!
