				   | hi all, i'm getting my first yorkie baby in april/may but trying to learn as much as possible before he comes along. i have read that low blood sugar is common among yorkie puppies and that NutraCal for puppies rubbed on the tongue/gums helps perk them back up. So I have already bought some to be prepared... So my question is, should I only use it if an episode occurs? Or is it something that can be given as a *preventative* say in the morning and before bed or something like that.... or is it meant to be used only as a *reaction* to low sugar levels? Thanks in advance! This board is great! |

				   | My vet told me to give it to sophie once a day. It's really good for them. She only had low blood sugar once. |

				   | You should only give it if she is sick, not eating or having a hypo attack. Giving it all the time can cause sugar spikes then they will come back down from that hard

				   | While NutriCal is wonderful to keep on hand, over use can contribute to diabitis. Don't over do. The best preventative for hperglycemia is plenty of rest, food and do not over handle.
