| Little Red Bumps on Head and Belly Please help my Bindi. Over the past week my 1 yr old has developed little red bumps inner belly and head. What can this be due to? Food? I don't believe she's had anything different this past week. She's on Canidae dry ALS and wet(she's had the wet on and on for a month but had it everyday this week. She goes to the park twice a day too. Any help? Thanks!

| Possible reaction to Canidae's new formula Similar symptoms to what you have described at the bottom of the page here: "I started seeing red round welts over my pit bulls whole body, mainly around his legs, feet and head. He became very lethargic and then he started vomiting so I skipped feeding him one meal before his vet apt. The next morning he did a 180. No more red bumps and he was running around like normal. I found out the food we were giving him, Canidae, switched formulas just before the symptoms started and it was making our dog very sick. - commented 2 months ago" Has Bindi been vomiting her food? If not, she may be having an allergic reaction to something else like a bug bite or anything else as mentioned on earlier posts on same link. Last edited by Miao; 03-28-2009 at 11:07 PM. | Gizmo had little red bumps all over a couple days after a grooming and it turned out to be a staph infection. I didn't think anything of it, but my husband took him to the vet. I'm really glad he did!

| Miao-thanks for the link! She has not been vomiting her food though. Judy- How does one contract this infection? Laura- The bumps are teeny like think pimple-ish. Could she have developed a food allergy to Canidae? I know it's not grain free. She hasn't been itching or anything. Can it be from detergent that ive used on her blankeys and toys? THanks all for the replies

| Staph Dermatitis and Hypersensitivity What is Staph? Staph is a commonly used abbreviation for Staphylococcus, a group of bacteria commonly found on the skin. Dermatitis is a term that means that the skin is inflamed. Does Staph always cause dermatitis? No. In fact, Staph is a normal resident of the skin of animals and humans. It is considered an opportunist. As long as the skin is healthy, Staph is dormant. But once the skin is irritated, Staph can invade the area and multiply rapidly. What are likely causes of this type of skin irritation? Scratching is the most common cause. Any disorder that causes itching can create the situation which allows Staph to become a problem. Common causes of itching include fleas, inhalant allergy, and food allergy. Irritating chemicals, such as flea and tick dips, also can cause itching.

| Early stages of staph look like little pimples, but change to puss-filled lesions with a crust in later stages..

| unfortunately, if that's what it is,it does require a vet trip.. You still might have a food allergy that brought it on though.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Judy gave you some great info here. If you suspect this could be staph, at all, please get to the vet asap. All of us have staph on us, but when the skin is broken and/or when staph multiplies inappropriately - it can be extremely deadly if a staph infection occurs. Really, even sepsis can happen. Keep us posted!

| hey guys, Something just occurred to me. We've had ppl here working on the house fixing cracks in the wall and such. Bindi was very interestedin them. They were here for a week and will be returning tomorrow. Could this have anything to do with it? This thought woke me up and I just had to post
