| 1st Vet Visit--Need Advice! I took my 10 week old Yorkie to the vet this morning and she got her vaccination. This afternoon she would yelp when I picked her up. Have any of your Yorkies been sore after their first vaccination? I am wondering if maybe something else is wrong, or if this is common. If she yelps again in the morning, I will take her back in. If you have been through this, please let me know about your experience. Thanks! Elizabeth & Sugar |

| Don't worry about her, this is normal. Mazee is always a little tender after she gets her shots. Don't be suprised if she gets a bump there in a few days. That also is normal. Mazee went about 4 days one time before the knot came up and was there close 10 days I think. BTW welcome to YT, she is a cutie!

| Oh thank goodness! I was terrified that I "broke" her! I am broken hearted that she is in pain, but it is a relief to know that it is normal. I really appreciate your reply. Your Mazee is a cutie, too! |

| lol, nope she isn't broke, just sore. I know that some people give a partial baby aspirin for pain, but I never have. I just usually let Mazee rest after shots, let her take it easy. But you could call the vet in the a.m. and see if he recommends something for pain, that might help her.

| Hello and Welcome!!! The same exact thing happened to me when my Daisy Mae got her first shots. It scared me so bad that I called my vet (who is also my friend) and asked her what was wrong. She eased my mind and told me that Daisy was going to be sore for a day or two. Your baby is such a cutie! It's going to be fun watching her grow. Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. That's what we are here for. ~Kathy

| Thank you! Everyone on YT is so nice and helpful. I really appreciate it. This is my first Yorkie, and I feel like I did when I had my first human baby--a little terrified that I will do something wrong! |

| My poor little Chloe yelps for the first day when she gets her vaccines. The next day she is back to normal. I let her crawl into my arms and try to be gentle. Good Luck...poor furbabies

| Yup peanut gets really sore too!! And he gets bumps You can always really gentle put a warm compress on the spot, it helps. Or like tomorrow when your furbaby isnt as sore try the compress, it will help with the bumps if your furbaby gets one...

| she will be ok my baby gets sore too. what I do is to let her rest as much as possible, and she gets kind of cold, so I put some covers over her. they are like kids when they get their shot. I also, make sure she drinks waters, because usually she won't even get up her bed. you just need to worry if you see she is getting an allergic reaction or if the symtomps last more that 24 hrs (sore, not wanting to get up or play)

| My baby got the shivers and yelped too. The first time I filled up one of DH's socks with rice and tied a knot in it. I heated it in the microwave for 1 1/2 minutes, wrapped it in a hand towel and placed it in her bed to warm her up and let her sleep it off. This last time I was more prepared and gave her about 1/3 of a baby asprin too. *the vet told me to have this on hand She was all frisky the next day, but still tender. |
