Sorry, I should have made myself more clear- I use THK Force (with chicken) and then just add the Primal to it. I don't use Preference. I do it this way because we travel a lot and I cannot take the raw so I wanted something I could use at home and away- at home I add more raw than THK, when we travel I use THK and no raw. Make sense?

Hey there. The reason I became uncomfortable with NV is due to the fact they are sourcing their meat from China. I believe this is unacceptable, I don't care how safe they feel it is or the tests they do. To me, it's a personal problem I have with that. I also don't like that they DON'T use antibiotic-free, horomone-free, organic meat in all of their formulas. There are plenty of people feeding NV and their dogs are doing WONDERFUL on it. I just don't feel as comfortable with that as Primal. If I didn't have a choice I guess I would keep feeding NV. You aren't doing anything bad for them, don't worry. I am just one of those super paranoid people so if I get a wierd feeling about something I usually do something about it.

has anyone heard of armellions raw food in huntington ny? it sounds like that they sell the same food as primal. i was wondering if anyone from here feeds it to there babies? they sell a 2lb roll for 3.50 and a 5lb roll for 5.00.
i will wait till i hear from somone here before i go out and buy it. it's because they make right there in there store.

I was under the impression only the rabbit was from China , are the other meats being sourced from China as well? I was planning to just avoid the rabbit , but if they are sourcing all their meat from China then I would have to rethink my choice.

I was also under the impression ( from the sales clerk ) that they were hormone /antibiotic free. But I could have misunderstood her, I had spent hours reading food bags in the store , so at that point my mind was so frazzled she could have said anything and I probably would have misunderstood.

I am also one of those paranoid people who tends to over think everything , and in this situation I am more paranoid than usual because it's a subject where I don't have complete understanding of all the options and nutritional issues yet , so I tend to worry over the least little thing

thanks amanda for the info! I heard about NV outsourcing the meat but I thought it was only certain kind. I ususally roatate between NV and Primal and they also get homecook salmon food. I am just gonna stick with Primal from now!

I *personally* just have a problem with outsourcing with the way our economy is. Yes I understand that probably most of everything I buy is from other counties, but when I have a clear choice in the matter, I will always go with something from the US

Yep- you're also kind of right about that. The chicken formula, lamb formula, rabbit formula and organic chicken formula are antibiotic, horomone-free. However, the beef and venison are not. Also, the organic chicken is the only formula that is well, organic

Don't worry- I have a fairly broad knowledge of canine nutrition and I am STILL paranoid about it all!! It won't go away. Sorry to break it to you

Nope, it's just the rabbit. I just don't see any reason for the company to source from China with all the problems. I also like the way the Primal mashes up so much easier My boys very much prefer it- they didn't like the pieces of bone in the NV

This just means the animal was not given any hormones or antibiotics before it died. I'd be more concerned about preservatives and chemicals used once the meat is no longer protected by skin.

i went out today to a store here on long island and bought sammy raw chicken and raw lamb. this store makes it right there. now the problem is how much honest kitchen food to how much raw meat for a 7 lb yorkie? does anyone have an idea?
they have a website called armellinos , just google it, it is huntington station ny.
8 lbs cost me 14.00. it should last quite awhile,she said up to 6 months.
i gave sammy a little bit tonight with his homecooked meal and tomorrow i am buying honest kitchen perference, so i can start to wean him off of homecooked.
does anyone know how long it will take me to get him off of homecooking?
he really loved the raw food, even the cats were sniffing around his bowl, lol
