| Small bump on lip Hey everyone! I haven't been around for awhile but I'm hoping I can get some answers! On the weekend I noticed Layla has a small pink bump on one side of her bottom lip. She does scratch at her mouth area quite often and she always has. She is eating Orijen 6 Fish. I have tried a bazillion different kinds of food and this one gives her the least scratching, and she hasn't had any ear infections in a long time. Has anyone had experience with anything like this before? I'm not sure what it could be. I can take a picture after work to give you a better idea of what it looks like. I'm just wondering if it's serious enough that I should take her to the vet as soon as I can, or if I should just keep an eye on it.

| Does it look like this? http://img82.imageshack.us/img82/8681/sspx00295od.jpg When I googled skin growth on lip, it led to a 2 page dogster discussion on a couple of the owners' dogs with the same question but different diagnosis (mind you, this was in 2006). Please do go have it tested to see if it's a minor thing that will "fall off" on its own or if it is indeed something more serious like what that "Keira" user has... and/or if you're a member on there, and Keira is still active, you can discuss it with him/her to see how that resolved. I hope it's okay to post a link to that thread here: Growth on face - Dog Health Forum |

| Does it hurt her? I had a friend that found a bump on her dogs jaw line. She found it while bathing her. She had to take her into the vet to have it removed and tested.

| Thanks for the link Miao! It doesn't seem to hurt her, I can touch it and she doesn't move. I think I will call the vet tomorrow to have her look at it.

| I made an appointment for Monday afternoon. I spent half the night reading about what it could be, and the other half of the night worrying I really hope it turns out to be nothing

| Easier said than done, I know, but since you can't do much about it until she's seen the vet, try to not worry so much until Monday! If it's an option for you, maybe it's a good idea to have it removed then tested to be sure of what it is/was. Good luck! |

| Romeo had a bump like this , but on his nose. It had cancer cells and had to be removed. He is ok now. I would consult with your vet.

| That is my biggest worry. How old was Romeo when he had it?

| I just got back from the vet. She thinks it is just a cyst, and I shouldn't be too worried about it, but keep an eye on it. She said it doesn't look like it's infected, it's not inflamed, and it's possibly just a hair that hasn't poked through the surface of the skin.
