| I give mine C.E.T. Enzymatic Oral Hygiene Chews, my daughter works at a vet and my own vet recommended them for dental care. My dog loves them. |

| So they definitely ARE digestable? Wookie loves them, but I took away anything like that, rawhides and all after he had his exploratory surgery. Cause it wasn't completely ruled out that wasn't what was stuck in his intestines. I also have a friend with a Frenchie that chewed on rawhide til it got real sticky then got a piece off and it got stuck in her throat and almost choked to death. Is this a threat with the bullies too? I hate that I am not giving him anything like that to chew on anymore (except a stinky pig hoof!) and he loves the bullies so much, I would like to be able to give them back to him, if I can do so safely. |

| I was also wondering how safe the bully sticks are. I am so afraid of small pieces breaking off and causing problems. I was using nylabones which worked fine for the first several months but now my little Kay T has became an aggressive chewer and I want something safe (or as safe as we can get).

I think they are as safe as you can get since they are 100 percent digestible, this means that no small pieces can lodge in the intestines and cause an obstruction. They say that any chew food or toy should be used with supervision. Some dogs will try to swallow things whole, and watching how your dog uses it will give you a better idea.

| My vet also recommended the C..E.T. Enymatic treats. But -- we have been giving them as his "special treat" for special occasions like haircut, bath, nails etc. and giving him something else for a regular treat. I want to switch and have the C>E>T. treats more often and use something else for a "special" treat and I was thinking about the bully sticks. Lorraine

I actually don't think of Bully Sticks as a "treat", although he loves them, they aren't the instant gratification that you get when you give them a food product. The bully sticks are a hard chewing stick that helps to clean their teeth, as well as take care of the chewing needs, so that they won't chew on other things. They are food in the sense that they are digestible protein, but it takes so long too get any. For rewards for being good, many people use plain old cheerios. Other options are vegetables, Joey loves green beans, the frozen variety, not the canned, as it contains to much salt.
