| No he didn't. I just thought it was from her illness. She has never had this before. So i am hoping it won't come back.

| Hey Carl! Sorry the princess is having tummy problems! I would consider putting her on a digestive enzyme/probiotic combo for life. The enzymes will help her break down the nutrients in the kibble, and the probios keep all the good bacteria around, which also aids in digestion. Both of this will allow her to get the max. out of her food. Check out this link- I was recommended to use this by a friend of mine whom I HIGHLY respect in regards to nutrition. I will be purchasing some when my enzymes are gone. Ranger has a very sensitive GI system so these are a must for him, and with Ryder being so tiny I want him to get everything he can out of his food!! Nature's Farmacy - Store - Product Details

I will check out this product, we were so worried about her last night, and this morning too.She seems good now. She's only eaten rice today,we'll put her back on her kibble tomorrow. But yes, I agree the probiotics sound like they will help our problem,as well as sticky to her regular diet.

| When TJ was young and he would get those crazy noises, he wouldn't eat or drink, then when he finally pooped it was globs of orange mucus. After he got that out, he ran for food, like he was starving. We tried lots of things, finally Tylan Powder is what did the trick. |

Tylosin (Tylan®) Tylosin I personally would always try a probiotic before antibiotic as probiotics work real well and non-dairy are best to use - you give 30 min prior to food in am to coat the intestine with good bacteria before food is introduced to the digestive tract. I know it works as i used it for 2 years and my allergy dog had no diarrhea at all then i took her off feb 2009 due to a metacam incident and all heck broke loose she had diarrhea off and on until 1/4/2010 when i put her back on it after being diagnosed with clostridium which is basically an out of balance bad bacteria over good in intestines issue so i doubled up on probiotics 1/4/2010 then 1/9 i had to do clindamyacin which can cause diarrhea or vomitting for staph infection - she was a total mess off probiotics oh and before for 2 years even with allergies she never had a staph infection now she goes off probiotics and has staph and clostridium. I am using 4 capsules a day since on antibiotics and give 2 hrs after antibiotics at night and 20-30 min before food in am as i only give antibiotic in evening and her poop has been perfect but it was perfect before the antibiotics as i wanted to space it out to see if probiotics stopped and it did. She was on 2 capsules daily of dds plus then if any diarrhea i go to double 4 capsules two in am and two in evening. If a dog has ibd and having diarrhea it is the large intestines and if vomitting it is small intestinal inflammatory disease here are the probiotics i use Dds-Plus Capsules by U.A.S.Laboratories - UA-1010 - at The Vitamin Shoppe they are non-dairy as dogs are usually lactose intolerant and why i do not like yogurt as lactose intolerant can make the diarrhea worse

Probiotics should be given prior to food 20-30 minutes to coat the intestines with good bacteria to create a healthy environment before food is introduced and if on antibiotics you give antibiotic and then 2 hrs later probiotic to put good bacteria back into the system since the antibiotic killed all good and bad bacteria. Digestive enzymes should be added to non raw diets to help digest food so it is added on the food but if feeding raw you do not need to add in a digestive enzyme as it has natural enzymes that are cooked out in kibble and cooked diets but i still am skeptical about it myself as the body is designed to function to digest food so unless a situation where pancreas is not working properly in digesting food I am still skeptical about this supplement myself the two above do two different things so should be done seperately if you choose to use them Last edited by dwerten; 01-29-2010 at 08:35 AM.
