| How big might he end up? My 12 and a half week old yorkie is about 4 1/2 to 4 3/4 pounds. How old might he be as an adult? He was projected to be about 7 pounds, but he's had an amazing growth spurt. We don't really mind either way, though I do want to be able to carry him in a bag now and then so when he gets tired of walking around town I can hold him (hubby and I walk a lot.....). |

| I just heard yesterday that to get an estimate of their full grown weight, you double their 12 week weight.

| Double their weight at 12 weeks is the general rule of thumb so that would make him 9-10 pounds full grown. If you got him from a reputable breeder, she would be able to best guess his weight as she would know her lines. Some lines grow quickly early on, then stop growing, others grow into the second year. |

| Okay thanks! He's healthy so that's all that matters really. Just figured I should know if I should stop fantasizing about those adorable shoulder bags with his little head in them. |

| The good thing about a larger yorkie is that you wont need to carry them because they wont get tired! Ranger is only 5lbs but can hike 5 miles, and can run 2-3 miles with me at a pretty good pace. Ryder can only walk two hundred yards or so and he wants up! Silly boys!

| This makes my hubby very happy because in the summer we walk 3 miles and run two miles in the park. I'm thrilled about that too....though part of me liked the idea of being able to carry him in a bag sometimes if he got tired. But for our purposes, having a dog who can run and walk and keep up with us is probably more our lifestyle anyway. You just made my hubby's day |

| Franklin was 4lbs at 12 weeks and now he's 13lbs! My other Yorkie is 10lbs. I'm the same way.. I sometimes wish I could bring them with me when I go out but overall, I am happier that they are bigger. They are much sturdier and we don't worry about them getting hurt jumping on and off our furniture..

Don't worry, once he gets bigger he will walk more! It's nice to be able to carry them but the tradeoff is that Loki can jump on the couches and bed without help and he is definitely a sturdier dog.
