| Starsky is 7 and 1/2 months old and weights 8.2 lbs. I wanted a smaller dog, but he still is pretty small to me. Besides I don't worry about him near as much as if he would have been a lot smaller. He is perfect. He hasn't grown in size, (height and length) in a long time, but I bet he puts on more around his middle. I just started him on adult food this week. We'll see how it goes! I am glad to see a lot of you own bigger yorkies too.

Chloe - 1 1/2 yrs,7lbs. Lacey, 1 yr, 3 lbs, with such a tiny little face, her teeth look like the ends of a toothpick. They are two totally different looking yorkies, in weight, shape, hair color, hair texture and personalities. Yorkies make life interesting, like chocolates you never know what you are going to get.

Fascinating thread. Little Bear at 12 years is 6 lbs. Turbo at 6 years is 5 lbs and Nugget at 4 and half months is 1.9 lbs. I'm amazed at the number of bigger yorkies and can't help but wonder if there is any common thread ie where they are from, registered/nonregistered, size of parents etc. Accuracy of information from breeder? In my recent search for a new baby I specifically wanted a small yorkie from a reputable breeder. I know a thing or two about dogs, breeders, etc. You'd be surprised at the number of breeders who would tell me that they had a "tiny" for sale when in fact the puppy in question clearly was going to be breed standard if not bigger. Some of these breeders I know personally but that didn't stop them from exaggerating the quality and size of the pups. I was not buying any pup that I could not research the pedigree and confirm that it came from a long line of small dogs. Then or course there is the question of how many of the "bigger" yorkies are just simply overweight? I know I tend to spoil my furbabies and it doesn't take long before oops they've put on a few ounces. I now try to keep a very close watch on the weight issue so as not to place any more stress on their knees than necessary. If you've ever had one who has had to go through the knee surgery you very quickly learn that those extra treats can do more harm than good. But it's soooooooooo hard to say no to those darling little faces.

After I got Bentley home from the vet's after being neutered, I got to looking at the papers, and I guess they weighed him after putting him to sleep or something, cause they showed his weight to be 9.6 lbs (6 mos Sept 4). He just wouldn't be still when I took him in, so that weight (10.7 lbs.) was the best we could get on the scales at the time. I had put him on them before they took him back and I showed 9.7. Either way, he's still a biggun! Just more of him to love!!

Flakes................... When I got Bentley from my breeder, she told me he would be bigger than the "norm". Her price was lower for him, since she couldn't use him as a stud. She strives to breed within the breed standard, and didn't feel he would be that. But since we have a 3 yr old child, we thought it'd be better to have a bigger inside dog.
