| I do Missy's every night and the vet said "that's fantastic". I've read that you should aim for 2-3 times per week if you can.

| A couple days a week will keep them maintained well. There are pet toothpastes on the market you can use; or a great product is Petzlife- works very well. PetSmart carries it. |

| I brush every day with an enzamytic toothpaste. If you mean a professional cleaning the vet will tell you when you have a checkup if they need cleaning. I have dogs who have gone several years and some who need cleaning every other year. Yorkies are notorious for having bad teeth that's why brushing is so omportant |

| I use a vanilla mint flavored enzymatic dog toothpaste and try to brush every day. It is hard bc my yorkies mouths are so tiny 2.5 and 3.2lbs, but I do the best I can. The vet said even getting some of the toothpaste in there helps--brushing is still the best though. As far as going under and having the vet do a good cleaning--it depends on the dog, what you feed, if you brush, etc. We have dogs that go evey couple years to some that need it done every 6 months. The vet I work for uses equipment like people dentists use, so he gets under the gum line--some will only chip away what's visible. |
