| The dark chocolate is a lot more toxic than milk chocolate. My brother used to give his yorkie m&ms. Your baby will be fine |

| I know they claim chocolate is not good for dogs... but in days gone by we had a poodle that ate jersey milk chocolate bars and he lived till the age of 14 years... of course in those days the dogs only got rabies shot and ate dog food that was as good as the beef stew in a tin that people ate... |

| Here I found this website: Chocolate Toxicity in Dogs Semisweet chocolate has 150 mg/oz (528mg/100gm): toxic dose for 50 lb dog - 15 oz of semisweet chocolate I'm pretty sure 1 chocolate chip is less than 1.5oz. (5 lb dog) A handful would be serious but 1 is OK. Just watch for an upset tummy.

Thor's Human Donating Member | I think the chocolate thing is like seat belts. Most likely, you can ride your entire life without ever really needing your seat belt -- it's just that on that rare, rare occasion, you will be really happy you have one on. I remember Victoria Stillwell did a special "It's Me Or The Fat Dog" a few years ago, and this chihuahua had been eating about half a bar of semi-sweet chocolate every night. Victoria showed the family what a "toxic" dose was, and it was clearly about 1/5 of what the dog had been eating for years. Still, it's good to know you should watch out for your dog eating an entire bag of semi-sweet chips. |

| One chocolate chip won't hurt a bit, however, I think people reading this thread may get the wrong idea. Just because it takes x amount to be toxic doesn't mean that it is okay to ever give any. There will be dogs that don't have a hard time with it but it can and does cause seizures and death. Nothing to mess around with...

| SAME WITH THE GRAPES .. they are toxic too...but why? some dogs died from them but how many dogs and how many grapes did they eat ? but the same is with many of the dog foods on the market that are killing peoples pets and also the treats ...everyday there is a recall... then what about all those poor pets so very sick from all the vaccines... that we think we are protecting our loved little ones ... Really makes u think ! |
