4 Attachment(s) Here are some more pictures...you can see how sharp the pieces are. In a couple of the photos, I have dug the bone out and it is sitting next to a broken kibble. This is just so you can actually see it. The there are a couple where I have it sitting in the tip of my finger. Tammy |

OH MY!!!! Maybe it is just the way the varieties of "fish" foods are prepared no matter the brand (higher end ones like NB and Wellness)? As if picking a food is not hard enough already :( |
In regards to the NB Potato & Fish food pics... I have BOTH Wellness Small Breed and NB Ultra Small Bites here and I looked at both of then. NOT the fish varieties. Neither of them has the white things or white sharp looking anything in them. Max has been pooping so much on the NB Ultra. I guess it is because brown Rice is listed as the second ingredient. I am going to try the Wellness 5 mix Small Breed and see how that goes. The first 3 ingredients are protein/meat. He likes both of them but seems to enjoy the Wellness more. Maybe it is the small flat triangle shape? He is 5.5 pds and has a small mouth. The NB is a flat disk shape. |
I feed the Natural Balance Duck and Potato because my Maltese has allergies and this keeps him from having tear stains. |
WOW, that Wellness video was absolutely horrifying! We have a bag of Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Fish so I went and checked it out (although this is NOT what I feed...I just have some left over....my babies eat strictly Natural Balance Potato and Duck) - anyway, there was *itty, bitty, teeny TINY* little specs of white in SOME of the kibbles (NOT ALL)...however I cannot even be certain that the white specs I saw were even "fish bones" - BUT...these pieces were extremely tiny and not AT ALL sharp or pointy what so ever. They weren't even "sticking out" of the food - but rather laying flat on the food, if that makes any sense lol. |

WOW! That is great to know since Max is half Maltese! Maybe I'll try some and see if his stains go. |
It must have something to do with the foods that have fish in the titles. The NB Ultra and Wellness Small breed have some type of fish meal (salmon and such) in them but I do not see any boned in those products. Right now I am still feeding Max a mix of the NB Ultra Small Bites and the Wellness Small Breed until I decide what to do. I am just shaking my head because I thought these were 2 great choices. I hope the issues are just with the fish brands. These foods are more expensive than the cheaper foods but now I am left wondering how much better are they really and are the companies telling us the truth.:( |
I bought my doggies a new bag of Nutro 2 weeks ago. I had been feeding them this for 3.5 years with NO problems. When I first started with it, everyone was raving about it.. even people on here. NOW, I\'m reading all this jazz about it killing pups! I immediately called my pet store today and they agreed to take it back.. even though I had been using it for 2 weeks. SO, I was then faced with the decision of what food to buy. After much research on different websites and my sister\'s recommendation I bought the wellness small breed. So far, my dogs LOVE it. I haven\'t seen ANY fish bones, as it is not primarily a fish blend. NOW, I\'m getting a little concerned with the company as a whole. Grrr. I just want my dogs to be healthy! PS- any LESS pooing with Wellness? Mine went A LOT on Nutro....but I also leave the food out all day. |
