Not really...maybe it's from the recent switch...I'll give it a bit more time before doing anything different. I had them on Calofirnia Natural but found out Rosemary can trigger seizures and CN has Rosemary in it so I switched to NB.

rosemary eh? cause i thought CN was a good food- thanks for the info!



Not to throw ANOTHER food into the mix but Nature's Variety has great kibble as well as raw and freeze dried food.

Ellie has mostly gone once a day for her whole adult life and has continued to on homecooked. I think she may have gone more on Royal Canin. I know that once and possibly twice is normal and any more than that I would have to question because it just wouldn't be normal for her.

oh i forgot to mention- Layla poops 3-4 times a day because she is fed small frequent meals because of her pancrease.

Ellie is fed 3-5 times a day and still usually goes once. :)
I know there are perfectly healthy dogs who go more but it reeeeally depends on what is normal for the dog.


About the rosemary, I had heard that about nutmeg too but is this from a reputable source or an internet opinion? I don't feed it, so it doesn't matter here but just wondering because it isn't on most toxic food lists.

I free feed through the middle of the day...for breakfast and dinner I feed them a little bit of kibble with their meat/vegetable mix over it.

Yes, CN is a good food but according to the Canine Epilepsy website Rosemary can trigger seizures.

I tried Wellness a long time ago with the boyz but they didn't care for it. Does it still have a powdery texture when it breaks?

What Rosemary can't trigger seizures?, I just change my girls from Wellness to back to California Natural balance, because Phoebe did so well on it her coat got so beautiful, she did so well on it. where did you hear/read that? :( I have feed my girls Natural Balance for long time and they did great, I just wanted to change it for somenthing different, the wellness fish is great but the kibbles way to big for my girls, I don't want to give them to much ck since they get that with home cook:( anyway I guess I will go back to Natural Balance:animal-pa

Correct. I'm now freaking out will call their company tomorrow:confused:
even Melody is doing now, so well on California Natural, lamb, small bites, gosh:rolleyes::(

Go to 'Table of Contents'...then down to 'Before a Seizure' and then to 'Identify Potential Seizure Triggers'. There is a list of things that can trigger a seizure and Rosemary Oil is one of them...it is also mentioned in another place but I can't find it right now.

I tried to ad this to my last post but it wouldn't let me edit.

You can search the canine epilepsy website for Rosemary and it will bring up several places where it is mentioned.

I agree with the NB and more poo. :( We switched our guys about two months ago from Canidae. I didn't like that Canidae had changed their formula...for a few reason, one being that it made Harley sick. However, after changing them to NB, they poo all of the time!

I guess that would make sence because in NB the 2nd ingredient is Brown Rice where as in the Wellness Small Breed the first 3 ingredients are meat/protein sources. Right?
I like that NB has fewer ingredients but I like that WSB has more proteins.

I will think that it depends of the dogs, because with my girls they while I was feeding them NB, duck and potatoes formula they poop less:rolleyes:, my girls with the Wellness, fish formula they poop more:rolleyes:

I just switched my three to Wellness; the grownups (8 and 10 years old, 5 pounds each) to Wellness Small Breed Adult, and the baby (4 months, 1-1/2 pounds) to Just for Puppy. I am thrilled so far- they are eating the dry kibble better than anything they've ever had. I am hoping they continue; it seems to be a very good food.
Next, we'll see how the "poops" go! :aimeeyork
