| Hypoglycemia! On the advise of everyone here I've been trying to find info for hypoglycemia since Roxy is so young and it seems to be something they can suffer from. Just wondering if there is somewhere here I can get more info on it? She's so small I don't want anything to happen to her and I want to be well prepared if anything goes wrong. Thanks for all the help

| Just keep Nutrical on hand. Make sure she is eating regularly and doesn't seem too tired (beyond the usually puppy napping), wobbly, and check her gums to make sure they are nice and pink. If the gums get pale and she seems a little listless, weak, and wobbly you may need to give her some Nutrical and get her to eat after. It's important they have protein after the Nutrical. I went through this with Missy.

| I never used nutrical, it's pretty expensive, our vet said to just keep karo syurp on hand, which is a pancake syrup that is clear You don't have to use it, unless she's not eating and is lethargic. If she gets acting like that, then just take a little finger full and rub on her gums. I had to deal with that one time, but, I think the puppy I had gotten was much younger than what the breeder had said she was. |

| Thanks, I think I'm being a nervous new mammy. She does sleep alot (but that's what puppies do!) and yesterday she wouldn't eat as much as she normally does. After eating she just got back into bed & didn't have much play time as usual. I brought her to my mom's house for a few hours & my family made a few comments about how much she was sleeping & not eating so I got a bit worried. I'm keeping a close eye on her now. I don't think I can get Nutrical here, I haven't seen it but the pancake syrup shouldn't be too hard to find.

| Thanks for the advise everyone, I have had a good few dogs over the years but never a Yorkie so small, she's 8 weeks now and weight about 1 1/2 lbs. I gave her some honey last night in her water & though she doesn't drink much water I think she's getting enough from her food as I put some water in there and she licks all that up first before she eats. She was in great form for the evening after she licked all the honey up!!

| Molly is now 17 weeks old and has recently just made 2 lbs., I have never yet had to use NutriCal. I have NutriCal just in case Molly were to suffer from hypoglycemia; especially when my granddaughter (who is 4) is over and playing with her. However, I have not needed to use it yet. And, as others have said, Karo syrup would be a good (and definitely cheaper) alternative to use as well. :santahat |

| Wow 17 weeks and 2lbs!! That's amazing, didn't realise Yorkie's could be so small. I'm still getting used to her. My boyfriend used to have a Collie so it's a big change for him too. I gave her a bit of honey yesterday too and she was full of fun, way more inquisative and curious than the weekend so I think she was prob in the start of it. She's back to herself now anyway, trying to pull the decorations off the tree, get up on the couch and anything mischievous she can get up to
