| Getting some weight on a tiny baby I posted a sentence or two about this in her spay thread, but my little DeDe has been my little skinny girl for the last couple months. She was a fairly chubby puppy, always eating well. She is definitely picky now though, and she has just hit a big growth spurt recently and gotten taller and longer. She is only 2 1/2 lbs but I would like to see her get to about 3 lbs or so. She has been eating NV raw medallions (alternating between chicken, beef, and lamb) for the last month and a half or so...she LOVES them and eats them well...I feed her 3 per day, I pull them apart and hand feed her...yes I baby her A LOT... I know that 3 per day is more than the recommended serving for her weight, but I added a little more since I am trying to get her to gain. I leave dry kibble, Innova Evo, down all day for them to nibble on...she eats a little bit of it but not much. And I also feed her little pieces of cheese throughout the day and she gets occasional treats, etc. For the longest time she was 2 lbs even, but then when I switched to raw she jumped up to 2 1/2...and then hit this growth spurt and thinned out again. Is there a supplement or something that I can give her to get her to gain a little faster? She was just spayed yesterday so I'm hoping that will help her put on a little weight too. Any ideas would be much appreciated!! Thanks! Last edited by EmrldShdwQueen; 12-09-2008 at 08:28 PM. |

| Maybe you could try adding some chicken and rice to her food and some veggies and carbs. Brownie can get a little skinny at times and I just add chicken and rice to his food and it really helps put weight on him and he just loves it. Have you tried the satin balls? They are suppose to be good for putting weight on them. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...tin-balls.html

| I'm no help except to tell you that when I had my Heidi spayed she was a little under 3 pounds (at 1 year old). She's now 4 pounds and I wish I could get her to lose a little bit. In her case, the weight came on soon after the spay. |

| That's what I'm hoping will happen...every female I have ever had spayed always gained weight afterwards...so maybe DeDe will too... |
