Okay My pup is on Tribrissen for a respiratory infection. He is now constipated so I gave him a spoonful of pumpkin. My question is how much is too much? Also how much yogurt do I give? He is 6.7 pounds...

greetings from Yitzee, Oscar and soon to be Rooster! A few years ago Yitzee was having problems with her pooping but my vet recommended this stuff the FORTIFLORA by Purina. It's over the counter at dog stores in the "health section". You may also have to ask for it at the vets. It costs like $1 a packet. One packet covers 2 meals. You just sprinkle it on and they eat it and they get their tummies feeling much better. It works and it works well. It is just like for humans when we take antibiotics those pills kill the good stuff too. That is why the docs tell us to eat a lot of yogurt or get some pro-biotic pills from the natural food store. These work fast and are harmless. I think you will have a smile on the pups face before too long!

I think if you give him too much, you'll know! Lady loves what I call "pumpkin mousse". I mix a generous spoonful of both yogurt and pumpkin together - yummy! Make sure you are only feeding him yogurt with live cultures and no artificial sweeteners which can be toxic to dogs.

plain is best and low fat and many use stoneyfield - goat yogurt is easier for them to digest as closest to their mother's milk and does not have estrogen in it

Check the label to be sure, but I think Yoplait uses artificial sweeteners. Both Dannon and Activia make plain lowfat yogurt as well as Stonyfield as Dwerten said.
