I need some advice on what brand to feed my 5 month old yorkie, she is currently eating a tablespoon of ukaneba lamb and rice with a little of hills science diet in the morning and just the science diet in the evening, i have been reading a lot of thread about natural balance and wanted to know if that was better, sometime it seems like her stools are very soft. I also notice her knawing at her paws and she has been treated for fleas. thanks. Gracie

oh poor thing. It is the food that is causing her loose poop and her itching. All of those food are sadly bad quality but sold everywhere. Natural Balance is a WONDERFUL food- but you need to change over slowly- her body has to rid itself of the old food- take about a week to change over- slowly adding more and more new food. Her poop might get even softer but it is just her body adjusting to the new food- that shouldn't last longer than 2-3 days.

you should change brands all together. wet or dry- the brands she is eating are not good for her at all.

Purina is a very low quality food. He may be doing well currently but if you start to see health issues - it is probably the food. There are bi prodcuts in it which can cause huge health issues.

I switched the boys to NB venison & sweet potato. Clarence rarely pees inside anymore (he's 12 & taking a diuretic) & Keegan does NOT chew on his paws anymore. This chang has been great for us.

WOW that's great! Vension is a rare meat and usually goes over great for dogs who have allergies which is what it sounds like Keegan had!

Really! The vet couldn't give us an answer but YT sure did! THANKS YT! I'd love to go prey model but I don't think I have the "fill in excuse" for it right now. Keegan would be perfect for it...Clarence is like an old "Queen", he'd look at it like...well, lady...what the hell do you expect me to do with THIS mess???? He is 7# of pure funny (reference avatar).

Yes, purina is supposedly a bad food, but, not all purina foods are bad. For one thing, the food we had to have our golden retriever on, was made by purina, it was only sold through the vets, and the pro plan is also one of their better ones. When our chihuahua was growing up over 40 years ago, purina was one of the only foods out there on the market, he was on purina dog food all his life, and lived to be 19, never had any health problems. As I've said before, no matter what kind of food anyone feeds, as long as the dog does well with it, no allergies, etc then keep them on it..I truely believe in this, I have seen many dogs sicker on supposed "good food", than some of the "bad food"..

The breeder had her on pro plan, if she didn't feel it was a good food, she wouldn't have been feeding it. I know our golden retriever lived to be 17 or 18 being on kibbles and chunk all her life(she died of cancer, never ever paid a vet bill for her, except the yearly rabi shots..), the same with our 19 year old chihuahua..Now, I've had mine on good food and have had plenty of vet bills. Now, they're all on eukanuba naturally wild, they all do well on it, their poop is more solid than it was on other "good" foods, and YES, I do feel good feeding it to them.
