| First aid help I am making a first aid kit for my rescues and I need some help. I got my list from the YT first aid kit suggestions and just want to make sure its still up to date info. How much? How often? Aspirin-Ive heard conflicting opinions on it lately. Some say never give your dog aspirin? Baby benedryl? Pepto bismol? Pure pumpkin? Also your opinions on.... I bought pedialyte instead of rebound? I bought pumpkin instead of glycerine? Cant find emotrol? I dont know that I feel comfortable administering any of these on my own with out a vets help. But I am going to put the kit together and hopefully with your help I can get a guideline of doasage for these items just in case. Thanks in advance

| I'm not great at remembering doses (probably because we rarely use any of this stuff). With pumpkin, I give about a teaspoon...maybe 2. Aspirin and pepto are controversial. I would go with your vet's advice. Since aspirin is an NSAID and I think pepto has an aspirin derivative or something in it, liver compromised dogs shouldn't have either. Benadryl should always be kept on hand. Pedialyte is fine. Pediasure may be better because there is protein in it but it does contain a corn derivative, so can't be given if your pup is allergic.

| Baby aspirin in the proper dosage is safe for dogs. It is cats who should never have aspirin as it is toxic to them. This is a great link to print off and tuck inside your first aid kit. OTC Medications |
