| blood in urine hi all, I took Snickers to the vet today because I noticed he had blood in his urine. I have had Snickers since he was 8 weeks old and he was house broken fully by the time he was 3.5 months. He has not had an accident since then. This morning I noticed he peed in bed, I smelled it first. When I put him out I noticed he had blood on his underside (he has medium length hair). He also ran though the kitchen peeing (I think he was scared because he knows he is not supposed to do that) and the urine was very smelly and red. Anyway, the vet gave me clavamox and told me to come back for a recheck in two weeks. The urine analysis showed red blood cells and a lot of white blood cells. Any way, this seemed all of a sudden, any one else experience this?

| I am not sure what could cause this, but I would speculate that it would possibly be from a urinary tract infection, and hopefully it's nothing serious. I'm glad your vet is seeing you back in a week. Keep us updated on little Snickers.

| Snickers has a urinary tract infection. Hopefully the Clavamox will clear it up. Sometimes they need to do a culture and switch antibiotics if it doesn't. Here's some additional information for you: Welcome to Healthypet.com! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali peed on my bed awhile ago which was so out of character for her and kept licking herself so I took in a urine sample and she had a UTI and crystals. The medicine cleared it right up. Hope Snickers feels better soon!!

| Did the vet check for crystals? Blood in urine could be caused by a blockage due to a bladder stone as well..

| My Ceasar just went thru something very similar. Was on the antibiotics and went today for a recheck on the urine. No blood or anything! Yeah! He's good to go. Your baby should be fine.

UTI!? Clavamox works great, my dachshund used to get UTI's all the time, and it got to the point where we had to start her on a special urinary food, and she has been UTI free for about 4 years now...He will be just fine! Just make sure you are giving him the clavamox with food, and finish it out!

| My Yorkie, Bailey, has been peeing on the carpet a lot. It has destroyed my carpet. I've noticed blood. I use a pee pee pad with him. He will go within a foot or so from it, sometimes, instead of going on the pad. He has started peeing and walking, whereas before he was going in one spot. The other night he wet because we were having a storm and it scared him.. He will also go on the carpet if he hears you drive up and not come in immediately. Tonight, he jumped up on the couch and peed on a blanket and some on the couch. He has been potty trained for many years. Most of this started when I started dating and when my son moved in. He barks excessively now, when my boyfriend and I or me and anyone else tries to have a conversation. This even happens when I or my boyfriend are on the phone. He is becoming so hard to deal with. I don't have a clue how to solve this. He is about 10 years old. Help, I'm at the end of my rope!! |

I'm feeling for you and Bailey. A vet will be able to help you determine if Bailey's incontinence and the blood in his urine are both symptoms of the same condition. The vet may require tests in order to confirm a diagnosis. Has Bailey been fixed? Bailey may be in pain--these little ones so often hide their pain from those who love them. Hope you are able to have a vet check this out. In the mean time, we're sending prayers and hopeful thoughts your way. --KatysMom | |

| Would it be a good idea to restrict his access while you get this figured out? Do you have a good sized x-pen? |
