| Yorkie foaming at mouth after vomiting Our 12 month old Yorkie threw up some bits of carrot and some bile. She did this about three times in the span of 2 hours. Then she looked like she was trying to do it again but this time just some foamy saliva came out of her mouth. She isn't shaking. She isn't trying to lick her stomach. She isn't whining or moaning. She just seems a little listless. She had gone for a walk about 1 hour before being sick. She was jumping and playful as usual. We don't recall seeing her eat anything, maybe some grass, nothing out of the usual. The bits of carrot are something we gave her as a treat - she always seems to like this. She has all her shots. She has never been sick before. Any ideas on what might be happening? Any advice? |

| The foamy stuff is normal after the bile, in my experience. For some reason it gets like that after they puke a few times. Has she gotten sick again since? How is she acting now? Maybe try to give her something really bland to eat and see if she's interested-if she is, she's probably ok. If she doesn't want it, that's ok too, just keep an extra close eye on her. If she starts to shake, whine, or gets sick again w/o having any food, I would definitely call the vet and/or take her to an E-vet if necessary. How much does she weigh? Watch her closely for signs of dehydration or hypoglycemia. You might also try giving her a bowl of pedialyte (mine like the apple flavored kind, not the grape) to keep her hydrated. Keep us updated!

| oh poor sweet girl. Layla does this when her tummy is empty- which is probably waht is going on - she went for a walk- got a litle riled up and that probably got to her- if you have yogurt that is great for an upset tummy and an all around good treat- low fat pro biotic is best. If you don't have that try something like plain white rice- just to get smething in her tummy but nothing that will upset her. Are her gums pink? if they are white use something like honey and just rub some on there to bring her blood sugar back up. How big is she? It sounds normal- although still upsetting that she got sick- i really recommend the yogurt- Layla was sick two days ago- i gave her that and it really helped. |

| For some reason, one of my yorkies ALWAYS throws up after eating carrots, so I don't feed carrots anymore. Also, from my experience, foamy, yellow vomit means they are hungry. Try cutting out the carrots and giving your pup a treat. Hopefully that will help. |

| Thank you everyone for the information. It is scary when something like this happens, she is just so quiet and it is not like her. Suzy to answer your question about weight, she is between 5-6 pounds depending on the day. She was fine until after we came back from her walk. She has eaten carrots before without the vomitting, I really don't think it is that. I tried giving her some of her dry dog food (royal canine for yorkies), she ate a little and I have been giving her water with a dropper (she wont drink from her bowl right now). I guess I will wait until morning and see if she is feeling better, otherwise we will make a trip to the vet, her favourite place to be, of course. I think the vomiting is over with, now I just have to find a way to fill her belly. I think I might try the yogurt and see if that works. Again, thanks Maria |

| Hi Maria, How is she doing today? 5-6 lbs is a good yorkie weight-you don't have to worry AS much about hypoglycemia coming on so quickly, but you still need to watch for it. Let us know how she's doing, and what the vet said.

| My york foamed at the mouth when she got a really bad taste in her mouth one time. She was licking at a stink bug, ewwww.. Naturally, I didnt know what the foaming was and freaked out and called the vet. She said dogs do that when they get a bad taste in their mouth.
