my little one lost her puppy teeth

is there anything I need to do? so cute i'm addicted to seing her little gum :-) she first lost her bottom two middle and now her upper -

I found the teeth lost a couple of times, but usually they swallow them for the calcium.
I have noted during this time frame the pup may not eat kibble as readily as they did before.
I ground it up in a coffee bean grinder for this and when they haven't gotten their teeth in yet.

I was told by my mento if I thought the teeth might be coming in with an over or under bite I could rub the gums gently to try and guide teeth coming in? Who knows?

would be kind of cute if i found her teeth but nothing, she may have swolled them too.

I didn't have to do anything special with Bella's food when i notice her cute little gums in the front

--she crunched her kibble right up just like she always has! I did buy her a Chilly Bone (it's made by Multipet, I think) that you can run under water and then freeze for 1 hr. She liked to chew on that....soothed her gums I guess. ALSO, and most importantly!!!, make sure she has LOTS of HARD things to chew! I just paid for 9 extractions at $10 a pop during her spay because she had a lot more baby teeth that hadn't come out than I thought! I have heard they only teethe for about 6 weeks, so those baby teeth will hopefully come out in that time period! Also, play lots of tug...that will help get them to come out too!

I have a ziplock baggie of Fiona's baby teeth that she lost. Usually puppies will swallow them, or they will just fall out. not to worry. Fiona has 1 baby tooth left that will get removed when she gets spayed on the 25th!

April's tooth fell out the other day when we were playing fetch.

It was a gruesome event, actually. Her Ropie was covered in gum blood. lol But it was cute at the same time because i don't think she realized it

I'm glad you posted this! Chase lost his teeth a couple of days ago. I was worried since none of them were falling out yet. His bottom and top two teeth are gone. Does anyone know how many baby teeth they are supposed to lose?

My vet gave me an estimate for the neuter and plans to charge me $28 per tooth extraction!

Retained baby teeth (deciduous teeth) are especially common in small dogs. You can go a few routes - wait until 6 months to spay/neuter and see how many retained teeth there are and then take your pup in for a consult with the vet who may advise waiting another month or so for surgery to give the baby teeth more time.

I didn't spay my little Ella Bean until she was about 8 months because she wasn't lose any baby teeth! She literally had 2 rows of teeth! She was like a shark. we had 17 pulled, if I remember correctly. My poor little girl!

The vet and I agreed on a flat rate of $150 for all the teeth pulling. If you are talking over 7 or 8, I would try and negotiate something similar.

Anyway, my lil girl did great and her mouth was healing and she was back to chewing within a week!

For those that lose them naturally, its normal for them to be swallowed or you may get lucky and find one or two on your floor!

$28.00 per tooth!?

that is a bit high! My vet is only charging me $10.00 for Fiona's final tooth!

I know! My vet is expensive, but they are four blocks away from my apartment (I don't have a car). They are pretty good with Chase as well. NY/NJ prices kill me

. I'm getting the neutering done for free via donation to Friends of Animals. I'm crossing my fingers that more teeth will fall out since we still have a month to go... he's lost four so far. Maybe I can talk them into giving me a discount if they need to pull an excessive amount of teeth.

Ill keep my fingers crossed for you! Once you get past the spay/neuter the cost of living with your pooch goes down - unless you are a shop-a-holic

Make sure your pup has tons of Bully Sticks to chew on. They are easily digestible (last thing you need is to run to the vet with rawhide in your pup's tummy) and hard, so the chewing may help loosen up some more teeth!

As I was reading your posts, I opened my little one's mouth...and sure enough...he is a little sharkie. He literally has two rows of teeth. He's only 6 months old. Should I be worried? When do the baby teeth eventually fall off? --and if they dont fall off, when should I get them pulled by the vet?

Has your baby been neutered yet? Usually they pull them during the neuter. If he has already been fixed, make an appointment with your vet!! Its not an emergency, but it needs to be taken care of.
