Donating YT 11K Club Member | Teddy has something on his skin and idk what it is... He's been scratching for a couple days and i thought it was cause he had this sweater i put on him for too long since it's cold here, and when i took it off is when he started scratching. I checked his skin and didn't see anything, but then i noticed where he is scratching he has little scabs and dry blood. So i bathed him thinking whatever the sweater had got on him, i checked for fleas and dont see any, plus the girls are fine so it cant be that. He isn't scratching as much now but he has red spots near his head and now around his eyes are swollen and scabby. Can this be allergies? He is also biting his paws sometimes like they itch. I have no idea what it is..and the earliest i can take him to the vet is on Thursday, i'm going to try on Tuesday but i have school. We put apple cider vinager on the scabs and they look a little better but i want to show you pics of his eyes. If anyone knows what this is please help, or tell me what to do until i can take him to the vet. Pic 1 and 3 is the scab on his left eye, it was just a red spot before but it is drying up. It's also swollen around that eye . Pic 2 is the other eye, it is red around it and swollen, if you zoom in you can see it better.

| Poor baby....gosh i wouldnt know what that is...mine has never gotten anything like that but i do know it dont look like flea eggs...i have seen flea eggs turn into a scab but it dont look anything like that. That could possibly be allergies and maybe the scabs are from the digging. My princess has allergies and she will bite at her feet but shes never got any around her eyes. Sure hope someone can help you.

| My eyes are bad, and I get hinky anytime anything goes on around the eyes. I may be overly cautious, but if he were mine, his little furry butt would be to the doctor post-haste. Meanwhile, I think I'd be putting some Neosporin on it to mitigate the chances of infection getting worse. Good luck - I'll be following this thread to see what happens. |

| My first thought would be some type of allergy and the scab is from itching. Usually when my poodle chews his feet it is from allergies. Poor guy I hate it when they itch. I know how miserable I am when I am itchy. |

| It could be a number of things, just a sore or maybe even a scratch. It very well could be a bug bite. I don't know where you live but do you have ticks there? ? If your puppy still has a mark where the scab was just keep in eye on it to make sure it heals, try using some antibiotics while you wait for the vet! Good Luck! Hope Teddy Boy gets well soon! Hugs

| My friend's Yorkie had a similar boo-boo and it turned out that it was from an abcessed TOOTH! It was an infection coming out from the inside. I would have the vet check it out asap. |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Probably an allergy. I would try some benadryl to give him a bit of ease on the itching and biting. Zoey and Toby have been itching some too. I checked and didn't see any fleas but I am wondering if it's dry skin because the heat is on right now and the air is a bit dryer.

| Baby Chloe scratched at her eyes until she got one raw and scabby underneath. Sounds just like Teddy. I give Baby Chloe 1/2 a childrens benadryl 3X a day and it has worked wonders!!

Donating YT 11K Club Member | His breath isnt stinky..its really just around his eyes now. He stopped scratching!! I took him a bath with real oatmeal and then poured diluted apple cider vinegar on him cause i read it on google and he is really shiny and not scratching at all. Only his eyes are still red but thats it, im still going to ask the vet and give him the childrens benadryl.

Good deal. They used to say that when a dog has any type of scab or wound around the face it could be an infected tooth, let us know what the vet says!
